Birthday of Honble Chairman Dr Sudhir Giri and Establishment Anniversary of Venkateshwara Group

On completing 50 years first & foremost, I would thank my beloved parents who brought me into this world.

I would like to thank God for giving me the honor of being the child of such God like parents.

In this long journey spanning 50 years I would like to thank my family, friends, colleagues, well-wishers, my teachers, my students who are just like my children because of them I moved out from the alleys of Ramnagar in Baghpat district of UP & became a formidable name in education.

Without their active guidance, cooperation, & education, Sudhir Giri would not be what he is today.

My beloved friends, respected teachers talking about my childhood. I would like to thank my parents, my teachers, my childhood friends who always encouraged me to do big in life.

I would like to thank my primary school teachers who inspired me to think differently & live life distinct from the masses. Their contribution is monumental in my life.

After completing 12th from a nearby school & around 30 years ago passing automobile engineering with 1st division, I received many job offers from reputed companies. But I decided on doing something different.

After working a few days in a reputed automobile company, much against the wishes of my parents, I left my job.

Then in 1998 almost 2 ½ decades ago started a 2 room education institute in Meerut.

With the active guidance & support of elders it has now transformed into 2 universities, 1 Medical College, a 750 bedded multispecialty hospital & over 2 dozen higher education institutions.

These achievements have made Venkateshwara Group a leading name not only in North India but an institution of repute in the entire country.

In this transformational journey, the contribution of teachers, non-teaching staff, officials, & students who are just like my children has been commendable.

On this day marking my birthday & the establishment day of Venkateshwara Group, I would like to highlight Balram Sharma, the first student to take admission at my institute.

As a mark of respect, I am starting a scholarship in the name of Mr. Balram Sharma.

In this long journey spanning 2 ½ decades, I lost touch with many friends, teachers but they contributed immensely in my career success.

Friends, colleagues, well-wishers, teachers, my employees & my children, if ever in this success journey I hurt your feeling I apologize from the depths of the heart.

I feel very proud when people inform me that their sons/daughters have become Doctors. Humor sly, I tell them that every year 150 of my sons & daughters become Doctors.

Every year thousands of my sons & daughters pass out of Shri Venkateshwara University & make a mark in their respective field than who in this world will be more fortunate than me in the genuine sense.

In my jovial journey of 50 years, I would once again thank every person who came in my life, including my cook, my teachers, my well-wishers & all my colleagues.

I assure I will be in the forefront of providing free education & affordable healthcare to the underprivileged sections of the society.

Finally, I offer my gratitude to my wife Dr Anjul Giri, who supported me in all moments of happiness & despair & because of her God blessed me with son Ribhav & daughter Aradhya who brought immense happiness in my life.

Once again, I express my gratitude to those who helped me climb the echelons of success & sincerely apologize to those who felt hurt by my actions.

I look forward to your best wishes Dr. Sudhir Giri Chairman Venkateshwara Group.

BTS Facades and Fabrications hosts networking event in partnership with the (AMF)

The team of 48 at BTS, who manufacture high-quality facades and rainscreen products for clients around the country, were at the forefront of the event, exhibiting their products and sharing reflections on their recent successful move into automation.

The event, which included a factory tour, presentation and an exchange in best practice, was even granted the seal of approval by Newton Aycliffe’s Mayor, Ken Robson, who said he is “blown away at what the business has managed to achieve.”

Philip Atkinson, BTS’ managing director, said:

“It’s such an honour to have been able to host this event at our offices, which are a showroom for exactly what we do.

Some incredible North East industry leaders attended. These events are all about learning from one another, and that’s exactly what we saw today.

I hope that everyone who came along was able to see that our investment into automation and machinery has made a huge difference to the way we work, and it is certainly the way forward for us.

This certainly won’t be the last time I invite fellow business leaders over to our offices; I love showing people around and banging the drum for our incredible workforce and for our thriving sector.”

22 people attended the event which was co-hosted by the AMF, a membership forum whose aim is to bring together the North East’s manufacturing and engineering community to create successful opportunities.

Arthur Hodgson, AMF’s forum manager, said: “We’ve had a fantastic visit and it’s been great to bring the members down to BTS.

“All of the members I have spoken to have had a brilliant day, it’s been fascinating.

“The feedback is that I now have a hard bar to try and beat for the next event.”

The networking forum hosts monthly get togethers with local businesses so that they can exchange best practices.

The next forum is on 21 September at Tharsus, and BTS will be sure to attend to learn more about what others are doing in the industry.

Exceptionally compelling novel entitled “Panopticon” by Vernon Muller is published by New Generation Publishing

Exceptionally compelling novel entitled “Panopticon” by Vernon Muller is published by New Generation Publishing

A painfully poignant story of conscience, conflict and redemption set during apartheid in South Africa

About the Book:

A panopticon is an all-seeing system of control.

This story is set in Apartheid South Africa where racial segregation was aggressively enforced by the white rulers. An innocent friendship between a white man Richard and a black man Simon brings them under surveillance of the feared and ruthless Security Police. Their friendship challenges the notion of white superiority and as a result both men suffer insults, abuse and brutal persecution.

“This is a gripping and compelling story that makes the full horror of apartheid and racism chillingly real.” (The Very Revd. Peter Judd, Dean Emeritus of Chelmsford)

Excerpt from “Panopticon”:

“‘Stop, please stop, stop, please, please!’ The screaming subsides to a low moan. Someone is clearly in severe distress. It sounds as though someone is being murdered. Then the full horror of the place dawns on him. This house, hidden away in the countryside, far from anyone, is an SB detention and torture facility. All the veneer of hospitality he has been shown is simply to mask the real purpose of what is nothing less than a hell hole. Now the high palisaded fence round the perimeter brings to his mind pictures of Nazi death camps. He falls to his knees at this horrific thought, crying out, ‘Oh God no, NO!’

The fact that the screams have died down is no relief. With shame he realises he has been so terrified that he has lost control of his bowels. Warm poo is sliding down his inside leg. He carefully gets up, holding the leg of his pyjama trouser to stop his faeces from falling on the floor. He hobbles over to the toilet to clean himself. He thinks he is becoming deranged. Removing his pyjama trousers, he can’t help the poo from falling out. In despair he sits down heavily on the toilet. His nice clean pyjama trousers are soiled. The smell makes him feel nauseous. He sits there for some time in desolation. Eventually in a daze, and with some effort, he rolls off wads of toilet-paper and begins to clean himself and the floor. He then tries to wash his pyjamas in the bath but gives up and stumbles out of the bathroom with a towel loosely around his waist.

At the door of his room, he cups a hand to his ear and listens for any further screams. However, he hears nothing. In a desperate panic he bangs repeatedly with his fists on the door shouting, ‘What’s going on? Someone, please tell me?’ He bangs his head on the door. There is no response. He falls against the door with his hands clutching and pulling at his hair. After some time, he gets up, turns, then stumbles over the towel he has dropped in his panic and falls to the floor grazing the palms of his hands. He lies whimpering on the hard-wooden boards. Eventually he crawls to a corner of the room. Sitting on the floor he pulls his knees up to his chin. He sits there shuddering, almost unable to breathe because of the sobs that rise through his chest. He thinks he is going mad, and hysterically whimpers to himself, ‘Will I be next? Please, please, don’t let it be me!’ He sits there crouched down, mewing like some sort of cornered animal. Eventually, exhaustion takes over and there on the floor he falls into a troubled sleep.”
