     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tai Po yesterday (March 30) evening in which a 69-year-old woman died.

     At around 7.40pm yesterday, a bus driven by a 54-year-old man was travelling along Tai Po Road – Ma Liu Shui towards Sha Tin. When the bus was approaching near Chek Nai Ping, the 69-year-old female passenger reportedly fell down inside the compartment of the bus.

     Sustaining head injuries, the female passenger was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 10.20pm.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.

     Police today (March 16) reclassified a fatal traffic accident happened in Cheung Sha Wan on March 14 as a case of manslaughter, trafficking in dangerous drug and assisting an offender, in which a 66-year-old woman died. Three men in suspected connection with the case were arrested.

     During a patrol in the vicinity of 60 Castle Peak Road in Cheung Sha Wan by officers of the Emergency Unit of Kowloon West at 7.28pm on March 14, a private car suspected of illegal parking was spotted. The officers approached for enquiry but the private car suddenly accelerated, subsequently collided with three other private cars, a taxi and the 66-year-old female pedestrian. The concerned private car driver then fled.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the 66-year-old woman was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 4.58pm yesterday (March 15). A 54-year-old private car male driver, who sustained ear and hand injuries, was sent to Caritas Medical Centre in conscious state.

     Some 30 grams of suspected crack cocaine and some 20 grams of suspected “ice”, with an estimated market value of around $52,000, were seized from the concerned private car. Following initial investigation, a 32-year-old male owner of the private car was arrested yesterday in Sheung Shui for trafficking in dangerous drug. Police laid a holding charge against the man with one count of trafficking in dangerous drug. The case has been mentioned at the Fanling Magistrates’ Courts today.

     After further investigations, Police arrested a 22-year-old man believed to be the driver of the concerned private car in Cheung Sha Wan last night for manslaughter and trafficking in dangerous drug. Additionally, a 19-year-old man was arrested in Kwai Chung last night for assisting an offender. The two arrested men are being detained for further enquiries.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Sham Shui Po District is underway. Investigation is ongoing and the possibility of further arrests is not ruled out.

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident happened in Cheung Sha Wan yesterday (March 6), in which a 56-year-old non-ethnic Chinese man died.

     At 10.05pm, a motorcycle driven by the 56-year-old man was travelling along Lin Cheung Road towards Kwai Chung direction. Upon approaching near Lai Po Road, it reportedly crossed the lane and rammed into a taxi. The motorcyclist was thrown out and was reportedly rolled over by a private car. The taxi and the private car failed to stop after the accident and left the scene.

     Sustaining serious multiple injuries, the motorcyclist was rushed to Caritas Medical Centre in unconscious state and was certified dead at 10.38pm.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team 2 of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Pat Heung today (February 16) in which a 27-year-old man died.

     At 12.48pm, the 27-year-old man was riding a bicycle downhill along Lam Kam Road towards Yuen Long. The cyclist reportedly lost control and fell onto the ground.

     Sustaining head injuries, the man was rushed to Pok Oi Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 1.37pm.

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident happened in Yuen Long this morning (January 16), in which a 31-year-old man died.

     At about 7.12am, a light goods vehicle driven by a 26-year-old man was travelling along Shap Pat Heung Road towards Lam Hau Tsuen Road. When approaching near 99 Shap Pat Heung Road, it reportedly knocked down the 31-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was rushed to Pok Oi Hospital in conscious state and was certified dead at 8.20am.

     The light goods vehicle driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.
