Expansion of Network in North America – Asahi Kasei America Opens New Marketing Base in Novi, Michigan

Düsseldorf, December 19, 2019 – Asahi Kasei is accelerating its marketing activities to-wards the automotive industry. Its regional headquarter in North America, Asahi Kasei America, has just opened an office in Novi, Michigan, to strengthen its marketing functions in North America, mainly in the automotive field.

Mobility is identified as a priority field in Asahi Kasei’s medium-term management initiative “Cs+ for Tomorrow 2021”, published in May 2019. In North America, the Japanese technology company manufactures and sells compound resins, battery separators, electronic components and fiber materials for the automotive interior as well as provides technical support to customers in the automotive industry. Many products have been adopted by major automobile manufacturers in the region.

In 2017, Asahi Kasei introduced its AKXY™ concept car showcasing 27* of the company’s materials and technologies (*increased to 37 in August 2018). In May 2019, Asahi Kasei unveiled AKXY™ POD, a vehicle interior mockup to demonstrate the company’s concept for the future of passenger comfort and safety inside vehicles.

By concentrating the company’s automotive marketing functions in Novi close to Detroit, the center of the North American automotive industry, Asahi Kasei will continue to propose innovative products that meet rapidly changing market needs. “This new office will give us a place to connect and collaborate with our different automotive businesses in North America, OEMs and Tier Ones. Price Tip: XZENT Infotainer X-522

XZENT (http://www.xzent.com/), a brand of the Swiss car media specialists ACR, has stood for good quality products at attractive prices for years. With the X-522, XZENT now has a 2-DIN infotainer with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto in its product range. The German Car & HiFi magazine has tested the moniceiver in issue 01/2020, and is extremely impressed. On account of its outstanding price/performance, the X-522 is awarded a ‘Price tip’ accolade.
Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto are at present the most popular functions for using smartphones in the car in comfort. A “moniceiver at a really good price” that supports both functions “perfectly” is the verdict of the Car & HiFi tech journalists on the new X-522. Simply install Apple CarPlay or Android Auto from the appropriate app store on your mobile phone, dock the smartphone with the infotainer via USB, and that’s it. “The user interface of the X-522 can now be configured with the desired apps. Display and control of the apps are fast and reliable from the touchscreen of the XZENT. Operation is ideally optimized for use while driving, with even voice commands being possible via Siri or the Google Assistant.”
But the other functions of XZENT can also be comfortably used according to Car & HiFi thanks to the “well-arranged layout” and “clear menus” with large buttons. “The capacitive 17.1 cm / 6.75″ touchscreen responds quickly and reliably to every finger touch” is what the journalists say about the touch-sensitive display. They were also impressed by its high brightness level, clarity, brilliant images and video quality.
The multimedia and communication functions of the X-522 were also able to excite the testers: most of all the integrated DAB+ tuner with its “useful comfort functions” like DAB-DAB / DAB-FM Service Following, Comfort Scan, Slideshow and DLS Text. “The reception is crystal clear, and the automatic station list makes operation very comfortable”, according to the tech journalists. Even an active DAB+ antenna is included in the kit, so is an external Bluetooth microphone.
Integrated FM tuner, Bluetooth for hands-free calling and music streaming, media playback via USB, 8-band graphic equalizer, camera input and video output, as well as a connection for the steering wheel remote control make the X-522 an “attractively priced” total infotainment package.
“With Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, digital radio, two USB connections and Bluetooth, the XZENT X-522 offers smartphone connectivity and features, which are otherwise hard to find in this price category”, is the concluding verdict of the experienced Car & HiFi testers. They award the X-522 the ‘Price tip’ accolade.

Extra Large Display: ZENEC Z-E3766 Sat Nav for Fiat Ducato

A large touchscreen for Fiat Ducato III, Citroen Jumper II and Peugeot Boxer II based motorhomes. The new infotainer Z-E3766 from multimedia specialist ZENEC (http://www.zenec.com/) is being launched with a top class display – and not just because of its 9″/22.9 cm size. The capacitive screen is touch-sensitive with an ultra fast response. In addition, the glass surface of the display screen is impressive for its high brightness level, large contrast range and excellent readability.

CARPLAY & ANDROID AUTO

WIDE VARIETY OF ENTERTAINMENT

For those who do not want to just navigate using a smartphone and app the Z-E3766 can easily be upgraded to a motorhome naviceiver. There are two software packages available for this that have been designed specifically for camping vehicles: the Z-EMAP66-MH3 with 3 years of free map updates, or the Z-EMAP66-MH7 with a map update subscription for 7 years. Both navigation packages contain accurately detailed maps for 47 countries with more than 6.5 million Premium POIs. Added to that is a comprehensive camping POI database with approx. 20,000 camping and motorhome stopover sites in Europe. To make sure you are navigated only along routes suitable for your motorhome, the Z-E3766 gives you a choice of different vehicle profiles so you can enter data specific to your vehicle. This avoids nasty surprises like streets that are prohibited to vehicles or bridges not providing enough headroom to pass below.

OLG Naumburg deems GDPR violation an antitrust infringement

The OLG Naumburg ruled in judgments from November 7, 2019 that a violation of the General Data Protection Regulation may also constitute an antitrust infringement (Az.: 9 U 6/19 and 9 U 39/18).

Whether a GDPR violation can also constitute an antitrust infringement is significant, as competitors are entitled to issue formal warnings in response to antitrust infringements and may, e.g., sue for an injunction or damages. We at MTR Rechtsanwälte note that the courts have to date arrived at different conclusions on this issue.

The OLG Naumburg recently ruled that GDPR provisions can be categorized as rules governing market behavior and that violating them may constitute an antitrust infringement.

In the case in question, a pharmacist had sued a competitor offering nonprescription medicinal products via an online platform which were only to be sold by pharmacies. The plaintiff viewed this as an antitrust infringement, claiming that personal health information was being saved in the process, which it noted is only permissible with the customer”s explicit consent.

The OLG Naumburg held that due to the absence of explicit consent here, this constituted a GDPR violation as well as an antitrust infringement of the rules governing market behavior.
