Consulus Vietnam Releases the White Paper on Vietnam’s Readiness for Industry 4.0 and the Post-Pandemic Age, Proposing a Roadmap Toward a Hi-Tech Economy

The white paper was launched today in both English and Vietnamese by Consulus Vietnam, RMIT Vietnam, and Hanoi Association for Women Entrepreneurs in the presence of government agencies, business associations, and international development organisations convened at the Vietnam-Singapore Cooperation Center.

The paper gives an overall view of Vietnam’s economy through eight industry groups, including Education, Banking and Finance, IT-Technology, Manufacturing, Medical/Healthcare, Real Estate, Hospitality/Tourism, and international business, then deep dives into each industry group.

“The white paper affirms that Vietnamese companies possess inherent strengths for innovation that can transform their business models and gain a competitive edge in Industry 4.0. Consulus Vietnam is dedicated to supporting Vietnamese business leaders in developing intellectual properties and proprietary ‘made in Vietnam’ technologies,” Ms Helena Pham, Managing Director of Consulus Vietnam, co-author of the white paper highlighted.

The paper concludes with practical recommendations and suggestions for Vietnam to be more ready for Industry 4.0 towards becoming a hi-tech economy, while consciously creating a systemic basis to tackle the challenges of Industry 5.0.

Professor Robert McClelland, Dean of The Business School, RMIT Vietnam said: “The Business School collaborates closely with industry through our Industry Advisory Board to ensure that our courses are aligned with industry demand and that our graduates are positioned to meet the needs of the business.”

“Our Academics at RMIT and Industry Advisory Board members have collaborated strongly and further, members of our Industry Advisory Board have worked hard to contribute to the Smart 4.0 Vietnam White paper launch, identifying how Vietnam could seize the vast opportunities given by Industry 4.0 as a shortcut to develop its digital economy.”

As 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership, the esteemed Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Jaya Ratnam, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor, noted that the collaborative partnership between Singapore and Vietnam is forward-looking and has recently expanded to encompass a wide range of domains, including energy, carbon credits, and innovation.

“In this connection, Singapore and Vietnam signed an MOU on a Green and Digital Economic Partnership last month, which provides an umbrella framework to bring our cooperation to the next level in energy, sustainability, infrastructure, digital economy and innovation, and connectivity. I am therefore very pleased to be here for the launch of Smart 4.0 Vietnam White Paper. For us, it will be a valuable tool to shape our engagement to be more effective and impactful; especially as we accelerate cooperation in the digital economy, covering areas such as cybersecurity, cross-border data flows, smart cities, innovation, artificial intelligence and digital payments,” he added.

Following this official launch, a series of industry-specific workshops will be organized to transfer know-how, capabilities, and tools for companies in each industry group to address current challenges and tap on inherent strengths and opportunities to drive innovation and growth for themselves, the industry, and Vietnam as a whole.

METALEX Vietnam 2022: Shape the Next Normal

METALEX Vietnam 2022, Vietnam’s International Exhibition on Machine Tools & Metalworking Solutions for Production Upgrade, 15th Edition will be organized from October 06–08, 2022, at SECC Saigon, District 07, Ho Chi Minh City. The event continues to help local industries adapt to new production. RX Tradex Vietnam organizes the event in partnership with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in HCM City, the HCM City Center for Supporting Industries Development (CSID) and the Investment and Trade Promotion Center HCM City (ITPC), which aims to deliver remarkable activities to the Vietnamese metalworking community, such as technology showcases, conferences, welding competitions, technology runways, and business matchmaking.

Vietnam continues to be a safe destination for foreign investors as a result of its adaptable economic policies and successful vaccination campaign. Vu Trong Tai, General Manager of RX Tradex Vietnam, the organizer of METALEX Vietnam 2022, stated: “Despite being impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic, Vietnam’s economy has proven its resilience, thanks to the adaptable reaction of enterprises and the prompt actions of the government. The changing geopolitical trends and the timely execution of economic cooperation will further strengthen Vietnam’s position. This is a good opportunity for Vietnamese entrepreneurs.”

Mr. Matsumoto, chief representative of JETRO’s Ho Chi Minh office, echoed the sentiment that Vietnam’s standing is improving: “Trade and investment between Vietnam and Japan have made substantial achievements in recent years. According to statistics, 55.3% of enterprises plan to expand their operations in Vietnam during the next one to two years, the highest number in Southeast Asia. In comparison to the rest of Asia, only India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan surpass this number. In contrast, only 2.2% of enterprises in Vietnam indicated that they would ‘narrow’ their operations, the smallest percentage in Southeast Asia and the second smallest in Asia after Pakistan,” he stated.

Furthermore, beginning in 2021, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry will implement an aid policy aimed at diversifying overseas supply chains. If the number of projects selected is divided by country, 103 projects have been selected, with Vietnam accounting for the most, with 41 projects. This demonstrates the level of interest in the project.

Nonetheless, Vietnamese enterprises face many obstacles. According to Mr. Vu Trong Tai, in order to take advantage of international corporations’ opportunities to invest and expand factories in Vietnam and to participate deeply in the global supply chain, Vietnamese manufacturers must improve their competitiveness by updating new technologies, increasing productivity, reducing consumption, enhancing human resources, and linking and cooperating in chains. While Mr. Matsumoto also brought up a number of problems, such as the quality of products and the lack of complete techniques, which make it hard to get parts and supplies in Vietnam.

METALEX Vietnam 2022 is ready to comeback from October 6–8, 2022 at SECC, 799 Nguyen Van Linh, District 7, HCM City. This will assist Vietnamese manufacturers in modernizing technology, building networks and deeply participating in the global supply chain. RX Tradex also collaborates with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in HCM City, HCM City Center for Supporting Industries Development (CSID), and Investment and Trade Promotion Center HCM City (ITPC) to organize “Supporting Industry Exhibition 2022” at the same time and location as METALEX Vietnam 2022.

More than 250 brands from 20 countries, including Accretech, Epson, Mitutoyo, Takamaz, Yamaha, Hiwin, LKM, New Century, Delta, Showadenki, and companies from international pavilions: India, Taiwan, Germany, Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand. There are many activities at METALEX, including technology showcases, conferences such as “Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing Application on Metal” by Vietnam Welding Society (VWS), the Final Round of the Welding Competition, Technology Runway, and Business Matchmaking Event.

In addition, the METALEX Vietnam team arranges intense events such as the M-TALKS The Series program and factory visit. Attendees can delve deeper into the most recent market trends, interact with partners, and receive advice directly from industry professionals.

The “Welding Competition 2022,” organized nationwide with generous support from the Vietnam Welding Society, is a bright spot for the Vietnamese welding community. The competition aims to recognize outstanding individuals and groups in the field of welding technology, with the opportunity to shine at the Final round during the METALEX Vietnam 2022 exhibition.

Finally, the forum “Navigate the future manufacturing – Deeply participate into global supply chain” which aims to provide Vietnamese manufacturers comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the manufacturing industry, allowing them to enter the supply chain with confidence.

METALEX Vietnam 2022 will continue to promote its important position in Vietnam’s manufacturing community, becoming an ideal destination for suppliers and customers.

Author and Vietnam War Veteran Robert Carson Krause Presents a Memoir That Paints the Horrors of War and PTSD

Homestead, FL – WEBWIRE

The Viet Nam War is a long, contentious, and divisive war that once robbed soldiers of their youth and sanity. Some recover, while some succumb to the horrors of memories and the flashbacks of chaos and violence. In the memoir “War and Living with PTSD: Vietnam 1969-1970 and the Cambodia Incursion in 1970,” Robert Carson Krause takes readers deep into the jungles of Viet Nam for a look back at the past and on the frontlines of war.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is a mental health illness that affects many military veterans. A terrible, horrific, or life-threatening incident that a victim experienced or saw is frequently the catalyst. Nightmares, intense anxiety, flashbacks, panic attacks, and uncontrolled thoughts about the incident are signs that a person suffers from PTSD. Many veterans suffer from this illness, and unfortunately, some never recover.

Robert, a college student, was thrust into the jungle canopies, rice paddies, and wet swamps of the Mekong Delta around Cu Chi, and then in 1970, from April until June, the Cambodia incursion in III and IV Corps. He fought the grunts’ battle through airstrikes, firefights, and ambushes. Robert documents the dread, chaos, death, and anguish of war. The terrible horrors that carve themselves into the features of numerous young American soldiers searing pictures that would stay with them for the rest of their lives. However, Robert also chronicles another war veteran has to fight—the fight for their peace and against PTSD.

The book details the many hardships active and retired military personnel go through before, during, and after their tenure. Robert speaks about the horrors of war as he also encourages everyone to avoid romanticizing wars and see them only as a last resort. Robert also shines a light on mental health issues and welfare for veterans returning from war.

The book tells what transpired in a war that has happened a long time ago—however, the new insights it presents also address contemporary issues that plague the noble defenders of the country.
