MBMA Announces 2020 Safety Award Winners

CLEVELANDMay 18, 2021PRLog — www.mbma.com: Each year the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) honors member companies that demonstrate exceptional performance in maintaining workplace safety. These awards are given to Building Systems members as well as Associate members for their performance during the previous calendar year. Safety awards for the 2020 year were presented during the 2021 MBMA Spring Meeting, held virtually April 28-30.

“Promoting workplace safety is one of MBMA’s most important objectives and these awards recognize the member companies that set an example for all of us,” says Tony Bouquot, general manager of MBMA. “For 2020, our Building Systems members had 43 plant facilities that participated in MBMA’s Quarterly OSHA Injury Statistics Program, logging over 12 million hours on the job. Our Associate member awards program broadens the focus on safety across the entire industry to include our suppliers’ facilities as well.”

MBMA is a leader in advocating for robust safety programs throughout the metal building systems industry. “Our members are dedicated to ensuring the well-being of each person who works in the industry and to making it a healthy and safe place to work,” Bouquot adds. “The benefits from effective safety initiatives include boosting employee morale, improving operations, and mitigating insurance risks and exposure to OSHA audits.”

MBMA’s awards program consists of three categories. The 2020 Superior Safety Award was given to eight plants that achieved zero recordable cases for the entire calendar year, a significant accomplishment. The nine facilities that received the 2020 Safety Performance Award achieved an incident rate equal to 50% or less than the OSHA industry average. ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.May 18, 2021PRLog — Award-winning writer, singer, and SAG-AFTRA actor, Alaina Warren Zachary’s new comedy script and series bible for “Crankey Village, N.M.” is finding success on the festival circuit.

Crankey Village, NM has received the following awards to date and they’re just getting started:

  • Best Teleplay California Women’s Film Festival ’21
  • Best Comic Teleplay Austin Comedy Film Festival ’21
  • Best Comic Teleplay Houston Comedy Film Festival ’21
  • Finalist Chicago Screenplay Awards ’21
  • Semi-finalist Hollywood Just4Shorts Film and Screenplay Competition ’20
  • Semi-finalist Cinequest Screenwriting Competition ’21
  • Quarter-finalist Sedona International Film Festival ’21
  • Quarter-finalist Stage 32 5th Annual Comedy Writing Competition ’20

“Crankey Village, N.M.” has been compared to Schitt’s Creek with a Superstore vibe which Warren Zachary is looking to get developed into a 10 episode television show.

Inspired by an idea of three long-time improv pals David Brezniak, Jane Ranallo Goodman, and Alaina, “Crankey Village, NM,” was written by Zachary. A narcissistic widow craving an east coast lifestyle is held back by the wacky, multi-cultural residents, family, and staff of a retirement community in New Mexico.

The first season of “Crankey Village, N.M.” has been structured for 10, half-hour episodes and the format allows for an easy binge-watching session which is hugely popular today.

Zachary has had an impressive performance career, earning a BFA from Boston University. Three Broadway original musicals: Grease, Nine, and Baby. A member of the famed Cambridge-based improv troupe, The Proposition. Scores of commercials and over 100 theatre roles.

She studied at the Mannes College of Music, sang with the Saratoga Opera, was a founding member of the Hudson Opera Theatre, and won an impressive grant to record the lost songs of French composer, Cecile Chaminade. The CD is “Mon Coeur Chante!”

Zachary relocated to Santa Fe in 2008 and joined the faculty of the Santa Fe University of Art and Design teaching musical theatre. She now resides in Albuquerque. Recent TV appearances include Roswell, Better Call Saul, Night Shift, and Graves. Films are Wander, Half Brothers, The Short History of the Long Road. Her feature screenplay, These Broken Wings took top honors in the Tale Writers NM screenwriting competition and now she brings her tremendous energy to Crankey Village, N.M., an episodic, comic homage to New Mexico.

About “Crankey Village, N.M.”

Produced by Dieu Donne Productions, LLC and Buffalo8 as Executive Producers, Crankey Village, New Mexico is a TV series about a wacky family-owned retirement community somewhere in New Mexico. When narcissistic widow Luella Crankey inherits the retirement community, she will do anything to sell. Wacky residents and quirky staff will do anything to stop her. Sylvia, the resident horned lizard sees it all. Watch the “Crankey Village, NM” featurette on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GhAFbAGpCE. Biomay Cooperates with BioNTech to Supply DNA Template for COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine

Biomay, a Vienna based biotech manufacturer, today announced their partnership with BioNTech SE to support the supply chain for manufacturing of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. Biomay is one of the manufacturers supplying BioNTech with the DNA template for the in-vitro transcription of their mRNA active ingredient.

The manufacturing agreement was initiated during the clinical development phase of the vaccine in Q1/2020. In the meantime, Biomay has become a formally qualified supplier for BioNTech. The scope of services includes process and analytical development, followed by GMP preparation of the cell bank, manufacturing of circular DNA plasmid and finally preparation of the linear DNA template.

In 2021, Biomay has produced and delivered multiple batches of released DNA template and supported the mRNA vaccine production thanks to this important manufacturing component, and the company will continue to do so throughout the year.

Hans Huber, Chief Executive Officer of Biomay, is pleased about Biomay cooperating with BioNTech on this globally essential project: “Biomay is proud to be making an active contribution to combating the coronavirus pandemic. Our staff are highly motivated and fully aware of the major responsibility associated with this cooperation. We would like to thank BioNTech for their trust in Biomay´s expertise. We have been able to demonstrate that our proprietary plasmid manufacturing platform is well suited to supply the required high quality and large volume of DNA template.”

About the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, which is based on BioNTech proprietary mRNA technology, was developed by both BioNTech and Pfizer. BioNTech is the Marketing Authorization Holder in the European Union, and the holder of emergency use authorizations or equivalent in the United States (jointly with Pfizer), United Kingdom, Canada and other countries in advance of a planned application for full marketing authorizations in these countries.

About Biomay

This greenfield investment will exclusively be dedicated to Biomay´s biotech CDMO activities. Parallel manufacturing lines will allow Biomay to increase its capacities by a factor of 10 with respect to batch scale and bioreactor volumes (rounded up to ~ 1000 L). Biomay will move to its new facility in December this year, with GMP operations scheduled to start in Q1/2022.

New Travel Search Engine to Disrupt the Travel Industry

In preparation for the upcoming surge in travel, due to increasing access to the COVID-19 vaccine and easing travel restrictions, VIP Vacay officially makes its debut.

VIP Vacay is a one-of-a-kind travel search engine, designed to connect its members with over 1,000,000 resorts and hotels around the globe at wholesale rates.

Instead of booking top-of-the-line accommodations at regular retail prices, VIP Vacay members are given access to wholesale prices, not previously made available to the public. Unlike other travel search engines, VIP Vacay doesn’t pad prices and take commissions, but instead offers hotel rooms and resort stays at rates that don’t include any markups at all.

The paid membership, for a low annual fee, helps travelers secure up to 75% off hotel and resort prices, compared to other travel search engines. VIP Vacay’s free offerings, available to all, provide travelers the opportunity to save 50% of the total savings available to paid members.

VIP Vacay promises to disrupt the travel industry as we know it, so it goes without saying that other travel search engines are nervous-but customers are excited.

“We love to travel, and we know we’re not alone! This past year has been so hard for so many, so as we’re finally able to get back out there, be it for business or pleasure, we want to help people explore the world in a way that doesn’t break the bank,” said Michael Kaplan, CEO, VIP Vacay.

To see live inventory (full benefits for paid members and partial discounts for free members), simply head to VIPVacay.com. Visitors are able to compare public prices to see what they’d end up paying through the top (overpriced) travel search engines.
