New District Officer for Tuen Mun assumes office (with photo)

     ​Mr Michael Kwan will assume the post of District Officer (Tuen Mun) tomorrow (June 26), succeeding Ms Aubrey Fung.
 
     Mr Kwan joined the Administrative Service in 2007. He has served in various bureaux, including the Education Bureau, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, the then Home Affairs Bureau, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York, the Security Bureau and the then Food and Health Bureau.
 
     He was the Principal Assistant Secretary for Health (Special Duties) before taking up the new post.

IFS Officer Trainees of 2021 Batch call on PM


The Officer Traineers of the 2021 Batch of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg earlier today.


In a freewheeling and informal interaction, Prime Minister congratulated the IFS Officer Trainees on joining the service and said they will now get an opportunity to represent India on the world stage. He discussed with them the reason behind joining the service.


Talking about 2023 being the International Year of Millets, he discussed in detail how they can contribute to popularising millets so that our farmers can benefit. He spoke about how millets are environment friendly and have health benefits also. He also talked about LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and how one can bring about small changes in one’s lifestyle to benefit the environment. Officer Trainees discussed the Panch Pran espoused by him in this year’s Independence Day speech and gave inputs about how IFS Officers can contribute towards their attainment.


Prime Minister exhorted the Officer Trainees to think and plan long term, for the next 25 years, about how they can grow themselves during this period, and be of use for the growth of the country.

     ​Mr Andy Lam will assume the post of District Officer (Kwun Tong) tomorrow (June 10), succeeding Mr Steve Tse.



     Mr Lam joined the Administrative Service in 2002. He has served in various bureaux and departments, including the Chief Secretary for Administration’s Office; the then Environment, Transport and Works Bureau; the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London; the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau; the Information Services Department; the Transport and Housing Bureau; and the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau.



     He was the Principal Assistant Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Treasury) (Speech) before taking up the new post.

     Mr Billy Au will assume the post of District Officer (Tsuen Wan) tomorrow (November 29), succeeding Miss Jenny Yip.

 

     Mr Au joined the Government in 1989 initially as an Executive Officer. He transferred to the Trade Officer Grade in the same year and worked in the former Trade Department and the Trade and Industry Department. He joined the Administrative Service in 2011 and has served in the Home Affairs Bureau and the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau.

 

     Mr Au was Principal Assistant Secretary (Financial Services) at the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau before taking up the post of District Officer (Tsuen Wan).

PIB officer Sanjay Kumar passes away

Senior Indian Information Service officer Sanjay Kumar passed away this morning following COVID-19 infection. He was admitted in the GTB Hospital, Delhi yesterday.

Sanjay Kumar, Deputy Director (Media and Communication) in PIB was looking after the publicity requirements of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. He was also associated with publicity work of the Ministry of Tourism in additional capacity. During his illustrious career of over 34 years in IIS, he served in different publicity units of PIB under Ministry of I&B. He also served in the personal staff of a central Minister. Sanjay Kumar also served as PRO in NCERT. He is survived by his wife and a son.

Senior Officials in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting have condoled the death of Sanjay Kumar.

The officer will be remembered for his professional competence and dedication to public service.
