The Teen Creative Wellness Project
AKRON, Ohio – May 16, 2023 – PRLog — The Teen Creative Wellness Project The project is a collaborative effort between the community and esteemed corporate partners, driven by the shared goal of improving creative wellness for underrepresented teens who need it most. This initiative comes at a critical time when the mental health and well-being of teenagers are facing unprecedented challenges. By harnessing the positive impact of creative wellness, the program aims to address the unique needs of teens and promote mental health awareness within the community.
The Teen Creative Wellness Project is made possible through the generous support of our valued sponsors and supporters, including the Kent Area (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, Faber-Castell, The Graphics Artists Guild, Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates, and featured facilitator, Creative Wellness Solutions by Dr. Kellie Kirksey. Their commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people is instrumental in the success of this program.
In its inaugural phase, the program will provide comprehensive wellness programming for 18 teenagers in Summit County. These teenagers will have the opportunity to engage in activities and explore various wellness techniques.

Kent Area Chapter (OH) of The Links, Incorporated The Kent Area (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, KAC, has a rich legacy of more than 45 years of genuine friendship and dedicated service to Summit, Stark, Portage, and Medina counties in Ohio. The Links, Incorporated, an international, not-for-profit corporation established in 1946, is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations with over 17,000 professional women of African descent in 299 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom.
Due to an incident of electricity supply at Tsui Mei House in Tsui Ping (North) Estate, the Kwun Tong District Office (KTDO) today (April 30) has opened the temporary shelter at Lam Tin (West) Estate Community Centre for residents in need.
The KTDO will closely monitor the situation, and liaise with other government departments to provide residents with appropriate assistance.
The “Safe Community Fun Day” organised by the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU) was held today (April 29) at the Hong Kong Science Park, as a key event to mark its fifth anniversary and to promote safe community messages to members of the public and young people through a series of interactive activities. The Permanent Secretary for Security, Mr Patrick Li, representing the Security Bureau, together with directorate representatives from the six disciplined services, officiated at the opening ceremony.
Mr Li, in his opening remarks, emphasised that the Government has all along attached great importance to the fighting and prevention of terrorist activities. With the establishment of ICTU, the effectiveness of the relevant work has been enhanced. Mr Li extended special thanks to the public for their active participation and support all along. In the future, ICTU would continue to engage and unite with the community in fighting terrorism together, with a view to making Hong Kong a “Safe Community” to live and work.
The event attracted over 2 500 citizens with active participation of various uniformed youth groups, namely Customs YES, Fire & Ambulance Services Teen Connect, the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps, the Immigration Department Youth Leaders Corps, the Junior Police Call, the Rehabilitation Pioneer Leaders under the Correctional Services Department, the Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps, the Auxiliary Medical Service Cadet Corps, as well as the Project Lighthouse, Sunshine Buddies, and the Youth Uniformed Group Leaders Forum under the Security Bureau.
The Fun Day featured a number of innovative and interesting booths and various interactive technology experiences, including virtual reality/ augmented reality games, flight simulation, e-Dodgeball, and Bishi Bashi game, to enhance public awareness on safe community. During the event, ICTU also conducted an emergency preparedness drill in which students were invited to participate and experience how to apply the advisories of “Run, Hide, Report” and “Three basic skills on emergency preparedness” in face of terrorist attacks or violent incidents.
The “5th Anniversary Colouring / Graphic Design Competition” organised by ICTU earlier also received an overwhelming response with over 1,000 entries. Winners were invited to attend the Fun Day and prize presentation ceremony, receiving awards from Mr Patrick Li and the Commissioner of Police, Mr Siu Chak-yee. Winning designs will have an opportunity to be displayed as advertising panels across the territory.
ICTU was established in 2018 under the coordination of the Security Bureau to enhance Hong Kong’s overall counter-terrorism capability. Its member departments include the Customs and Excise Department, the Correctional Services Department, the Fire Services Department, the Government Flying Services, the Hong Kong Police Force and the Immigration Department.
The Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF) is excited to announce its 2023 Arts Grant Cycle. Community-based organizations from Bullock, Choctaw, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, and Wilcox Counties are encouraged to apply.
The BBCF aims to support organizations who engage citizens from the Black Belt region in the arts. The 2023 Arts Grant Cycle seeks to support efforts in the following categories: in-school, after-school, community-based, and summer arts education programs, presenting and/or producing arts programming and attending professional development conferences. The BBCF will offer funding as follows:
· Grants with funding up to $3,000 will cover in-school, after-school, community-based, and summer arts education programs, presenting and/or producing arts programming and attending professional development conferences.
BBCF will be hosting five Virtual Grant Seeking Workshops for the organizations who are interested in applying for a 2023 Arts Grant. Attendance at one of the virtual workshops is mandatory in order to be considered for a 2023 Arts Grant. The Virtual Grant seeking workshops will be held via Zoom on the following dates:

RESTON, Va. – Feb. 15, 2023 – PRLog — Hunters Woods at Trails Edge (HWTE) recently recognized five seniors whose civic-minded dedication helped improve their community and the quality of life of their fellow residents.
The HWTE Civic Leadership Award honored Vilas Mujumdar, Rachel Liese, Lila Hall, Marie Mercer and Carl Rosengart.
The residents made an impact by leading the Independent Living Council, welcoming new residents warmly, and by improving safety in our garage and a nearby crosswalk.
“It’s been said that part of America’s greatness lies in the willingness of its people to band together voluntarily to accomplish good things for their community,” said Larry Rouvelas, CEO of IntegraCare, which operates Hunters Woods at Trails Edge.
“Many residents at Hunters Woods have made a substantial impact in their respective communities over the years by volunteering at churches, PTAs, clubs, non-profit organizations, food pantries and political parties,” Rouvelas said. “These civic-minded residents have found a new purpose at Hunters Woods, whether it is on our Independent Living Council or through volunteering, or even advocating for a safer crosswalk to benefit our residents.”
The Civic Leadership Award is given “in recognition of outstanding community leadership at Hunters Woods at Trails Edge.” The award also states, “Your work has improved the vibrancy of life of fellow residents and team members. We commend you shaping your community.”
The community’s Executive Operations Officer William Adjei said those who previously volunteered or served their neighborhoods often bring that same civic-minded spirit to their new home.
“We embrace the concept of ‘new beginnings,'” Adjei said. “For many residents, Hunters Woods at Trails Edge is just the newest community where they have set out to make their civic mark. We applaud those residents and will recognize similar efforts through our Civic Leadership Awards.”
The first-quarter 2023 Civic Leadership Award at Hunters Woods at Trails Edge was presented to:
Vilas Mujumdar, one of the original founders of the community’s Independent Living Council. “During his term as president, Vilas worked seamlessly with the management team to improve and bring vibrance to our Independent Living,” said Parween Nooruddin, Hunters Woods at Trails Edge Assistant Executive Operations Officer. “He helped us identify what we can do better for our Independent Living residents to help them transition into the community.”
Rachel Liese, one of the first residents to move into Hunters Woods at Trails Edge. “Rachel also was one of the founders of the Independent Living Council,” Nooruddin said. “Throughout her time here, Rachel has helped numerous residents and families. All the residents and staff love her. She does whatever she can to make sure her neighbors are taken care of and happy.”
Lila Hall, a key member of the Welcome Committee. “Lila has done an amazing job,” Nooruddin said. “Her mission is to make sure every new resident feels welcomed and has a great experience when they first move in. It has made a tremendous difference in how new residents are adjusting to leaving their homes.”
Marie Mercer, who spearheaded an effort to improve the sidewalk and crossing path from Hunter Woods at Trails Edge to a nearby shopping center. “Marie took it upon herself to contact Fairfax County,” Nooruddin said. “The conditions are much safer now thanks to Marie.”
Carl Rosengart, one of the founders of the Independent Living Council. “During Carl’s time as the head of the Safety Committee, he helped us improve the safety of our residents in the garage and outside,” Nooruddin said. “We realized the families and visitors were speeding in the garage, and with the help of Carl, we added speed limit signs in the garage.”
