The Canadian Coast Guard advises the public that the seasonal Inshore Rescue Boat stations in Quebec will complete their activities in the coming weeks.

Québec, Quebec – The Canadian Coast Guard advises the public that the seasonal Inshore Rescue Boat stations in Quebec will complete their activities in the coming weeks.

All inshore rescue boat stations have been operational since May 26th – the start of peak boating and sailing season in Quebec.

We remind boaters that public health officials’ guidance on physical distancing should be applied on the water. It is essential to follow guidelines set by public health authorities to avoid the spread of COVID-19. In accordance with health guidelines, our members practice physical distancing of at least two meters when possible, wash hands regularly, and wear a mask.

Search and rescue operations are an essential service and continue during the pandemic. However, if you are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, we encourage you to stay home to prevent the spread of the disease. This also helps protect our crews. If you do decide to go out, we strongly recommend that you:

Ensure your boat is in good condition;
Share your trip plan with family or friends;
Have enough fuel and reserves;
Have a mask for each person on board, for your protection and that of our members, should we need to assist you.

     A spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department said today (August 13) that since a person with a confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 had visited Hong Kong Tennis Centre in Wan Chai District, the Tennis Centre will be temporarily closed at 7am to 12noon tomorrow (August 14) for a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the facilities.

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise motorists of an alternating lane closure on the LaSalle Causeway for repair work

For immediate release

Kingston, Ontario, July 30, 2021 — Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise motorists of an alternating lane closure on the LaSalle Causeway for repair work during the following period:

Tuesday, August 3, to Thursday, August 12, from 8 pm to 6 am

 During this period, one lane will be closed and one lane will remain open for alternating traffic. Two flagpersons will be on site to direct traffic. Motorists should expect short delays.

The bridge will remain open to cyclists and pedestrians during this period, and marine traffic will not be affected.

PSPC encourages users to exercise caution when travelling on the bridge and thanks them for their patience.

     An organiser filed a notification to hold a public meeting and a public procession in Victoria Park on Hong Kong Island today (July 1), in which Letter of Objection has been issued to the organiser. Police are aware that some netizens are still inciting participation in such unauthorised assembly.

     Considering public safety, public order, people’s rights and freedom, and the serious health risks brought by the ongoing pandemic to society, the central lawn, football pitches, basketball courts and the relevant entrances (prohibited areas as shown in the photo) have been closed since noon to prevent any unauthorised assemblies.

     Intelligence shows that unauthorised public meeting and public procession are likely to take place in Victoria Park despite objection by Police. To prevent any unauthorised assemblies from taking place, public access to the above locations has been barred according to Public Order Ordinance (Cap. 245) s17(4). Knowingly enters or remains in a public place to which access has been closed without permission may be in breach of relevant offences under Public Order Ordinance (Cap. 245) s17A(1c) and is liable to a maximum penalty of 12 months’ imprisonment.

     Police reiterated that it is illegal to participate in, advertise or publicise any unauthorised assemblies and prohibited gatherings. According to the Public Order Ordinance, taking part in an unauthorised assembly is liable to a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment; advertising or publicising an unauthorised assembly is liable to a maximum penalty of 12 months’ imprisonment. In addition, taking part in the events may be in breach of relevant offences under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation (Cap. 599G) (i.e. Prohibition on Group Gathering).

     Police will keep monitoring the situation and take resolute action to enforce the law.
