PM addresses 30th National Commission for Women Foundation Day programme

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed 30th National Commission for Women Foundation Day programme today via video conference. The theme of the programme ‘She The Change Maker’ is aimed at celebrating the achievements of women in different fields. The State Commissions for Women, Department of Women and Child Development in State Governments, University and College teaching faculty and students, voluntary organisations, women entrepreneurs and business associations were present. The Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt Smriti Zubin Irani; Ministers of State Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai and Smt Darshana Jardosh; Chairperson, National Commission for Women Ms. Rekha Sharma were among those present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister greeted on the 30th Foundation Day of the National Commission for Women. “The milestone of 30 years, whether in the life of an individual or of an organization, is very important. This is the time for new responsibilities and for moving forward with new energy”, he said.

The Prime Minister remarked that today, in changing India, the role of women is continuously expanding. Therefore, he said, the expansion of the role of the National Commission for Women is also the need of the hour. All the women’s commissions of the country will also have to increase their scope and give a new direction to the women of their states.

The Prime Minister noted that for centuries, India’s strength has been the small local industries or the MSMEs. In these industries, women have the same role as men. The Prime Minister said that the old thinking had restricted women and their skills to domestic work. It is necessary to change this old thinking in order to advance the economy of the country. Make in India is doing this today. AatmaNirbhar Bharat campaign is linking the ability of women with the development of the country, he said. This change is visible as about 70 per cent beneficiaries of Mudra Yojna are women. The country has seen a three-fold increase in the number of women self-help groups in the last 6-7 years. Similarly, in more than 60 thousand startups that have emerged after 2016, 45 percent have at least one woman director.

The Prime Minister said the participation of women in the growth cycle of new India is increasing relentlessly. Women’s Commissions should work to promote and give maximum recognition to this role of women in the entrepreneurship of the society. The Prime Minister informed that since 2015 185 women have been honoured with Padma Awards. This year too, 34 women figured among the awardees in different categories. This is a record as this many awards to women are unprecedented, said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said in the last 7 years, the policies of the country have become more sensitive towards women. Today India is among the countries with provision of maximum maternity leave. Marriage at an early age does not hinder the education and career of daughters so the age of marriage of daughters is being attempted to be raised to 21 years.

The Prime Minister also talked about the historical distance of rural women from empowerment. He listed the steps such as 9 crore gas connections and toilets. Pucca houses of PM Awaas Yojna in the name of women of the house, support during pregnancy, Jan Dhan accounts, that make these women the face of changing India and women empowerment.

The Prime Minister said when women make a resolution, they only set the direction of that. That is why whenever a government does not prioritise women safety, women have ensured their departure from power.  Shri Modi stressed that the government is working with a policy of zero tolerance for crime against women. There are strict laws in this regard including capital punishment for heinous cases of rape. There are fast track courts and steps like  more women help desks in police stations, 24 hour helplines, portal to deal with cyber crimes are being taken.  ,

— PMO India (@PMOIndia) January 31, 2022

PM @narendramodi

— PMO India (@PMOIndia) January 31, 2022

— PMO India (@PMOIndia) January 31, 2022

— PMO India (@PMOIndia) January 31, 2022

Joe Malvasio of GCP Fund Addresses Real Estate Volatility – Grants Quick Private Loans

President of GCP Fund and asset-based lender Joe Malvasio has reiterated his commitment to countering the uncertainty of the real estate market by granting rapid loans to investors, builders, real estate auctioneers, and any other client considering commercial real estate financing.

The real estate industry has been going through a volatile phase due to the ongoing pandemic. Although the downtick in demand brought it to an all-time low back in late 2020, things are starting to look up as businesses continue to reopen across the United States.

Talking about this increase in demand, a loan officer from GCP Fund said, “Same time last year, we had investors pulling out of deals due to cash flow problems. The pandemic was so bad people had stopped paying their mortgages and rents—it was chaos. Right now, it’s quite the opposite. Business is resuming, and people are starting to look for homes again. The demand is sky-high right now, and it’s driving up the real estate prices by the week. It’s a good thing Joe’s here to help investors keep pace with this rapid rise.”

After spending more than four decades in the financing industry, Malvasio has seen his fair share of market volatility. “Last year was more of a slump than a recession,” said Malvasio. “It was pretty bad, but it didn’t come anywhere close to last decade’s recession. I wouldn’t wish that time upon anyone, but I’m glad it happened because it taught me the importance of time, among other things. It’s partly why I’m for quick loan approvals, and I’m glad it’s paying off in the current environment.”

As president of GCP Fund, Malvasio has streamlined commercial real estate solutions for numerous clients. His company currently provides commercial and acquisition financing through simple loan applications and rapid approvals.

Hong Kong – CE addresses business sector on opportunities brought about by 14th Five-Year Plan (with photos)

CE addresses business sector on opportunities brought about by 14th Five-Year Plan (with photos)

******************************************************************************************

The Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, today (June 3) addressed more than 200 members of the local and international business community at a webinar hosted by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) under its 160th anniversary distinguished speakers series. She highlighted the tremendous opportunities presented by the “Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People’s Republic of China and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035” (the 14th Five-Year Plan) approved by the National People’s Congress earlier this year, and encouraged businesses to contribute to and benefit from the national blueprint and action agenda.

Mrs Lam took members through the content in the 14th Five-Year Plan that concerned Hong Kong, although she suggested that one should actually refer to the entire Plan to appreciate the many opportunities available in the country’s development strategies in the coming years. She highlighted that the Hong Kong and Macao chapter contained, first and foremost, the fundamental principles that would contribute to the long-term prosperity and stability of the two special administrative regions. She said that it was imperative for Hong Kong to fully and faithfully implement the “One Country, Two Systems” principle; uphold the constitutional order as enshrined in the Constitution and the Basic Law; uphold the Central Authorities’ overall jurisdiction over the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR); implement the legal system and enforcement mechanisms for the HKSAR to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests of the nation and the social stability of the HKSAR; and resolutely prevent and curb interference by external forces in the affairs of Hong Kong. She remarked that seen against the unprecedented challenges faced by Hong Kong since the latter half of 2019 till the enactment and implementation of the National Security Law, the reiteration of these important principles underpinning the relationship between the Central Authorities and the HKSAR were timely and pertinent.

Mrs Lam went on to point out the positioning of Hong Kong as set out in the 14th Five-Year Plan, which reflected the full support and recognition of the Central Authorities for Hong Kong, and the plans and the progress of work in the relevant areas. In particular, Hong Kong was recognised for its status as an international financial, transportation and trade centre, and a centre for international legal and dispute resolution services in the Asia-Pacific region. Furthermore, Hong Kong was encouraged, for the first time, to develop as an international aviation hub, an international innovation and technology hub, a regional intellectual property trading centre, and a hub for arts and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world.

“To enable Hong Kong people to seize the opportunities brought about by the development of the nation, the Leading Group on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Development has endorsed various measures to facilitate Hong Kong people to study, live and work in the Mainland cities of the GBA. I am sure such supportive measures will continue now that a reference has been made to it in the 14th Five-Year Plan. However, the HKSAR must at the same time cultivate a stronger sense of national identity amongst the people of Hong Kong,” said Mrs Lam.

She also pointed out that in recognition of Hong Kong’s status as an international city, the 14th Five-Year Plan supported Hong Kong to foster co-operation and exchanges with countries and regions around the world. She encouraged international companies and chambers of commerce to leverage Hong Kong’s unique advantages to access the Mainland market and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations region.

Mrs Lam addressed wide-ranging questions from the participants covering such topics as the plan for lifting travel restrictions, quarantine arrangements, visa-free access to the Mainland by residents of non-Chinese ethnicity, Hong Kong-Shenzhen co-operation and sports development.

Mrs Lam expressed her gratitude to the HKGCC and various enterprises for their overwhelming support for the Government’s “Early Vaccination for All” campaign launched this week by rolling out measures to facilitate employees to get vaccinated as well as offering numerous reward schemes.

“Vaccination is the best hope for Hong Kong to overcome the epidemic; we need to do much better than the present vaccination rates in order to reach the immunity level for our society to return to normality. This is the time to act,” Mrs Lam said.

However, if institutional strength is added to that inner strength, their development will get expanded and they will be able to do what they want to do.Quoting Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, The Prime Minister said that the NEP is aimed at fulfilling Dr Radhakrishnan’s vision of education that frees and empowers the student to participate in national development.
