Attempted murder and suicide in Sha Tin

     Police are investigating an attempted murder and suicide case in Sha Tin today (January 30) in which an 80-year-old man died.
 
     At about 4.33pm, Police received a report that a man was found collapsed on the floor inside an accessible toilet with head being wrapped with a plastic bag. A woman was also found next to the man and collapsed on a wheelchair with head being wrapped with a plastic bag.

     Police officers sped to the scene. The man and the woman were rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in unconscious state. The man was certified dead at 5.22pm, while the woman regained consciousness.
 
     Initial investigation revealed that the man and woman were couple. The man was suspected attempting to kill his 71-year-old wife by wrapping a plastic bag around her head, then committed suicide by wrapping his head with a plastic bag.
 
     The two plastic bags tied with strings, the woman’s wheelchair and the couple’s personal belongings, which were in suspected connections with the case, were seized at scene.
     
     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of the man’s death.

     Police are investigating a murder happened in Yuen Long in the small hours yesterday (December 20) in which a 48-year-old man died.

     At 4.18am yesterday, Police received a report that the man suspectedly had a dispute with two women inside a taxi outside 17 Ma Miu Road. During the incident, someone allegedly attacked the man with a sharp object. The two women then fled.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found the man collapsed inside the taxi. Sustaining chest injuries, he was rushed to Pok Oi Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 5.47am.

     District Crime Squad of Yuen Long District took up the case. After in-depth investigation, officers arrested a 36-year-old mainland woman for murder in Tin Shui Wai at around 7am yesterday. Additionally, at around 8am and 7pm on the same day, a 37-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were arrested respectively in the same district for assisting offender with intent to impede apprehension or prosecution.

     All arrestees are being detained for further enquiries.

     A knife in suspected connection with the case was seized. The operation is still ongoing. Police do not rule out the possibility that more arrests will be made.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Police are investigating a murder case happened in Tai Po last night (December 9), in which a 62-year-old man died.

     At 11.31pm, Police received a man’s report that when he tried to visit his 62-year-old male relative at a village house in Chai Kek Village, his relative’s 52-year-old wife refused to open the door.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found the 62-year-old man lying unconsciously in the house. He was certified dead at scene.

     Initial investigation revealed that the 52-year-old woman was suspected of pressing the deceased with a mattress platform and a mattress after the deceased accidentally fell down when adjusting the bed frame. Police arrested the woman for murder. She is being detained for enquiries.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Police are investigating a murder case happened in Kwun Tong this afternoon (August 30), in which a 79-year-old woman died.
 
     At 2.55pm, Police received a report that two women were suspected fighting inside a toilet cubicle on 60 Hip Wo Street.
 
     Police officers sped to the scene and found multiple cut wounds on the 79-year-old woman’s head and neck. She was rushed to United Christian Hospital and was certified dead at 3.28pm. Another 51-year-old woman suffered slight injury on hand. She was sent to United Christian Hospital in conscious state and later transferred to Castle Peak Hospital.

     Initial investigation revealed that the deceased had been allegedly attacked by the 51-year-old woman with a sharp-edged object. Police arrested the woman for murder. She is being detained for enquiries.

     A 30 centimeters long chopper and a whetstone in suspected connection with the case were seized at scene. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Police are investigating a murder case happened in Wong Tai Sin yesterday afternoon (June 2), in which a 22-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman died.
 
     At about 5.15pm, Police received reports that two women were assaulted by a man with a knife in a shopping mall on 3 Lung Poon Street.
 
     Police officers sped to the scene and found both women lying unconsciously on the floor. Sustaining multiple stab wounds, they were rushed to the United Christian Hospital. The 26-year-old woman was certified dead at 6.06pm and the 22-year-old woman was certified dead at 6.47pm.
 
     After initial investigation, Police arrested a 39-year-old man for murder at scene. He is being detained for further enquiries.
 
     A 12-inch-long knife in suspected connection with the case was seized at scene.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the causes of their deaths.
 
     Active investigation by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon East is underway.
