MPEG-5 Part 2 LCEVC is the first internationally accredited enhancement standard for any existing and future video compression scheme. It enhances the compression performance of any base video codec (e.g., AVC, HEVC, AV1, EVC or VVC) and offers improved picture quality at up to 40% lower bitrates for both live and VoD delivery. Additionally, it provides a 2-4x improvement in encoding computational efficiency. LCEVC enables greener and more cost-effective video delivery workflows whilst maintaining compatibility with the device ecosystem of the enhanced codec. It empowers services to improve quality-of-experience for viewers without having to duplicate workflows or wait for device replacement cycles.

IoT Enabled Fleet Management System by Inovar

Most logistics customers have four main business concerns; real-time tracking & monitoring of vehicles, predicting demand and optimization of vehicle requirements, and predicting vehicle failures. With the existing systems, they had no means to track their fleet of vehicles in real-time. It also lacked capabilities to track vehicle idling & fuel usage trends to optimize fuel consumption, making it impossible to set up a cost-effective fleet optimization engine. Unexpected failure/breakdown of vehicles resulted in a huge loss in vehicle productivity and maintenance costs and was time-consuming.

 

We were able to address these issues smartly with an efficient fleet management solution that utilizes diagnostic data of vehicles and drivers. The data was obtained from GPS enabled devices within the vehicles. The data collected was the vehicle speed, engine coolant temperature, RPM, trip mileage, hard acceleration/brake and engine idle time. By analyzing the collected data, a complete picture of real-time operations was made available. These insights helped them select the most appropriate route, maximize uptime, control costs, and reduce fuel; thereby boosting productivity, increasing operational efficiency, and optimizing fleet.

 

Other than the fleet related challenges which all regular fleet management solutions provide; our customer wanted to bring the entire ecosystem to provide a one stop solution for any logistics requirements. Their vision was to bring in all stakeholders including APMC Markets, Warehouses, SMB, Traders, Custom Clearance Agents, Ports, and Truckers on a single virtual platform. This will provide transparency and create an open marketplace for people to freely trade on demand.

 

Inovar with its team of architects was engaged to find out the best solution which can be provided at this scenario. We proposed a Microsoft Azure based system which utilized several services, such as IoT Hub, Event grid, Databricks for Cold path analysis and PowerBI for Hot path analysis. Additionally, we custom built a micro services-based platform which could handle all the requirements around onboarding, Marketplace, consignment booking etc.

 

For the optimizing algorithm to manage vehicle supplies we used Databricks to calculate and assign vehicles which will give us the fastest turnaround time reduce the number of vehicles required. The system went live with 1000 vehicles and was able to show case a 30% operating efficiency with 3 months of the launch.
