Twelve months ago Jamie Butterworth and the London Stone team, set out on a mission to unite the industry, and have since achieved so much than they first anticipated, not only connecting the best UK landscapers with one another and educating industry professionals around the world, but also encouraging students across the country to consider joining the horticulture industry after completing their studies.
The intention of Jamie Butterworth’s #OneIndustryUnited project was to close the gap between soft and hard landscaping, to give back to the industry that they love so much, and most importantly, to provide students coming into the industry with the best assistance and support.
Just some of the things that London Stone have achieved in the past twelve months include:
• Holding developments days for landscapers – Welcoming over 462 landscapers, gardeners and suppliers across 8 Development Days
• Meeting hundreds of designers, landscapers and suppliers in the UK
• Raising money for industry charity Perennial GRBS
• Travelling to Russia and South Africa, sharing the British passion for landscaping
In addition to this over the past 12 months Jamie Butterworth and his team have visited and spoked to over 430 students across 10 different land-based and design colleges throughout the UK, injecting a passion for the industry with the intention of hopefully making the transition into full time work easier and less stressful. They have also assisted in bringing horticulture and landscaping into secondary schools, showing students that landscaping is really a great career to consider.
