A CAF delegation is currently in Algeria visiting a number of facilities that will host next year’s TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2022 and TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations 2023.

The TotalEnergies CHAN will be played from 08 January 2023 to 05 February 2023 in Algeria.

The delegation, led by CAF fourth Vice President and Chairman of the Organising Committee of TotalEnergies CHAN 2022, Seidou Mbombo Njoya and CAF Executive Committee member, Moses Magogo, has been in Algeria, meeting the leadership of Algerian football together with the Local Organising Committee (LOC).

The visit has taken the CAF delegation to the cities of Annaba, Constantine, Oran and Algiers.

The purpose of the visit is to inspect and assess the progress made on the sites designated to host the competition and the various infrastructures required for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship and TotalEnergies U17 CAN.

The delegation is accompanied in its visits by the President of the Algeria Football Federation (FAF), Charaf-Eddine Amara, Mr. Oukali Rachid, President of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) as well as Dr. Benhamza Yacine, President of the LOC of TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Mbombo Njoya said: “The visit in Algeria over the last few days has enabled us to understand the work that has been done on the preparations for the TotalEnergies CHAN that will be played here next year. We have noted the commitment demonstrated by the Algerian Football Federation leadership and the investment done by the government on infrastructure. One of our key objectives here is to also ensure that the stadiums will have world class pitches. We are also inspecting other facilities that will be used by the teams and the CAF family during the two competitions.”

CAF will announce in due course the host stadiums and other relevant information on TotalEnergies CHAN next year including the date for the draw of the qualifiers.
