WARC, the global authority on marketing effectiveness, has today launched the WARC Awards for Effectiveness, North America Edition (www.warc.com/awards/effectiveness/north-america). Delivered in association with LIONS (www.canneslions.com/enter/awards), using world-class expertise in award management and judging, this new competition will shine a light on marketing greatness in the region.

Philip Thomas, CEO, Ascential Intelligence & Events and Chair, LIONS
Paul Coxhill, CEO, WARC
Cheryl Guerin, EVP, Global Brand Strategy & Innovation, Mastercard
Pam Forbus, SVP, Chief Marketing Officer, Pernod Ricard, USA

The Awards are built around the benchmarks of the WARC/LIONS Creative Effectiveness Ladder and B2B Effectiveness Ladder (www.warc.com/about-creative), which provide universal frameworks of the six main approaches for using strategy and creativity to drive specific B2C and B2B marketing outcomes.

Philip Thomas, CEO, Ascential Intelligence & Events and Chair of LIONS, said: “The WARC Awards for Effectiveness North America offer marketers a new benchmark against which to assess just how well their marketing is working. Using the WARC/LIONS Creative Effectiveness and B2B Effectiveness Ladders as part of the judging process will give the industry a standard showing of what great effective work looks like in the region.”

Paul Coxhill, CEO, WARC, added: “The six categories of these new Awards for North America will be judged by extremely high-calibre juries including senior marketers from some of the region’s biggest brands and top agency professionals and specialists. To launch these Awards, we are delighted to welcome our two Jury Chairs, Cheryl Guerin of Mastercard and Pam Forbus of Pernod Ricard.”

Cheryl Guerin, EVP, Global Brand Strategy & Innovation at MasterCard will chair three categories: B2B, Customer Experience and Cultural Impact.

Cheryl leads the overall stewardship of one of the world’s most iconic and recognizable brands. She oversees the strategy and activation of Mastercard’s highly decorated Priceless campaign, advancing the brand to consumers and B2B audiences through cutting-edge advertising, digital marketing and innovative insights that inform and inspire new opportunities for the business.

Commenting on her upcoming role, Cheryl Guerin said: “It’s a tremendous honor to lead the jury of the first-ever WARC Awards for Effectiveness, North America Edition. I’m looking forward to collaborating with my peers to review the most exceptional B2B and B2C creativity from North America, and recognize the true effectiveness gems, which will help inspire and empower our industry.”

Pam Forbus, SVP, Chief Marketing Officer of Pernod Ricard, USA, has been appointed Jury Chair of the Instant Impact, Sustained Growth and Brand Purpose categories.

Pam oversees U.S. marketing and innovation for 26 leading spirits, wine and champagne brands in the company’s premium portfolio, including Absolut, Jameson, Malibu, The Glenlivet, Perrier-Jouet, GH Mumm and many others. Since joining Pernod Ricard in 2020, Pam has implemented “media to shelf” to drive consumer/shopper centric brand and business building.

The juries will score papers according to campaign objectives, insight and strategic thinking, implementation, business effects and lessons learned. They will then be benchmarked against the Creative Effectiveness or B2B Effectiveness Ladders providing entrants with a clear idea about where their work fits on the six rungs of the relevant ladder. For each category, the juries will award a Grand Prix as well as Gold, Silver and Bronze accolades.

With a straightforward process to enter, the Awards are free to enter and open to all agencies and brands from North America. Papers will be accepted until 21 September.

Canada – Four recipients of the 2022 Awards of Excellence in Nursing announced from Indigenous Services Canada

Under pressure in rapidly evolving settings, nurses can be relied upon to adapt, evaluate and make critical decisions for the patients whose lives rest in their hands.

May 9, 2022 — Unceded Algonquin Territory, Ottawa, Ontario — Indigenous Services Canada

Under pressure in rapidly evolving settings, nurses can be relied upon to adapt, evaluate and make critical decisions for the patients whose lives rest in their hands. With the unique healthcare challenges that present in often remote and isolated First Nations and Inuit communities, these skills can become a matter of life or death.

On the first day of National Nursing Week and on Indigenous Nurses Day, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services, announced the outstanding and extraordinary recipients of the 2022 Awards of Excellence in Nursing:

Lee Ann Sock, a proud Migmag from Elsipogtog First Nation who played an integral part in ensuring the community’s safety and wellbeing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hannah Gray, an Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) nurse in Sandy Lake First Nation with a love of the north and a dedication to creating an environment of integrity and learning in nursing stations.
Alexa Bisaillon, a passionate advocate for decolonized, trauma-informed healthcare and the right to self-determination as a cornerstone of Indigenous health, working in Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw First Nations.
Elizabeth Oguntuase, a lifelong learner providing healthcare to Inuit in Qikiqtarjuaq in a setting that fosters cultural fluency and cultural intelligence.

Recipients have demonstrated the highest degree of commitment to their nursing practices through exceptional initiative, compassion and efforts. Frontline nurses in First Nations and Inuit communities who receive the award are nominated by peers and selected based on their sound judgement, professionalism and culturally safe healthcare work.

Nursing in First Nations and Inuit communities encompasses far more than medical services and procedures. In communities rich with diverse culture and traditions, these nurses recognize the necessity in respecting and understanding the people they serve. In doing so, many of them create lifelong connections and form a deep bond with communities. These relationships are integral to reconciliation and building trust within the healthcare system.

To this year’s four recipients, and to all nurses who go above and beyond the call to care for those in need, we thank you for your steadfast support and endless contributions to keeping communities healthy.

“Congratulations and thank you to Lee Ann Sock, Hannah Gray, Alexa Bisaillon, and Elizabeth Oguntuase for your remarkable commitment to improve health in First Nations and Inuit communities across the country. The COVID-19 pandemic made your already difficult work so much harder. Health leaders like you, so many nurses and all frontline workers were heroic in their dedication to keeping people safe. Thank you for all you do to lead and inspire others in your field.”

Singapore’s IMDA Awards Huawei Int’l Data Protection Trustmark Certification

Singapore – WEBWIRE

Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) awarded their Data Protection Trustmark (DPTM) certification to Huawei International Pte.Ltd, Huawei’s subsidiary in Singapore.

The DPTM is given to businesses who have data protection regimes that are fully compliant with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act. To date, just over 80 companies have been awarded this certification. Huawei has long boasted their commitment to customer privacy protection. Receiving DPTM certification means IMDA has recognized the soundness and accountability of Huawei’s data protection practices related to data collection, use, and disclosure.

Foo Fang Yong, CEO of Huawei International, explained why this certification is particularly important to the company, saying “Personal data protection is not simply a legal requirement, it is a social responsibility. This certification underscores our commitment to privacy protection. Our consumers, customers, suppliers, partners, employees, and other relevant stakeholders can rest assured that their personal data is well protected. We are vigilant and have always adhered to all privacy and personal data protection laws and regulations in every jurisdiction in which we operate. We have incorporated privacy protection requirements into all our day-to-day business processes.”

Over the past two decades, Huawei has collaborated closely with local telecom operators in Singapore to assist in developing world-class network infrastructure, supported Singapore’s digitalization journey, and introduced a series of smart devices to Singapore consumers. As new technologies like cloud computing and big data mature and are further integrated into communications infrastructure, Huawei is ramping up its ability to provide stable, reliable, secure, and sustainable cloud services to local businesses. By establishing regional Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore for its enterprise and cloud business, the company also aims to help more local businesses go digital and global. In particular, to tackle climate change, Huawei is also leveraging digital power technologies and working closely with local partners to support Singapore’s Green Plan 2030.

In addition to receiving DPTM certification, Huawei has also partnered with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) as one of its SG Cyber Safe Partnership Programme’s advocate partners. Through this program, Huawei works with the CSA to help businesses and organizations in Singapore to bolster their cybersecurity protections and boost cybersecurity awareness.
