With BJP’s clean sweep in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections a proposed mega infrastructure project —the much delayed international airport in Jewar — could finally take off. Speculation arose as talks veered around the second international airport in Greater Noida as the winning candidate for the Jewar assembly seat, Dhirendra Singh, identified it as his priority. The Union minister for culture and tourism Mahesh Sharma, who is the MP from Gautam Budh Nagar, promised to fulfill the demand of the electorate very soon. It had all started, when the Union home minister Rajnath Singh, while campaigning in Jewar, had informed that the Jewar international airport, first proposed by him when he was CM of UP in 2001, had already got the required approval from the Centre. Later the Minister reiterated that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been keen to develop world-class infrastructure in the country, to help generate jobs. As the people of UP have shown their faith in the PM’s policies, the government is bound to fulfill the aspirations of the people and ensure establishing the airport in Jewar.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed all officials concerned to coordinate with the civil aviation ministry to get necessary approvals, so that the project is completed at the earliest. The project is crucial because it will help in bringing investment, setting up industries and creating jobs in the region along Yamuna Expressway.

The proposed Jewar International Airport has gone another step ahead in becoming a reality as it recently received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Defence. This development holds great significance as now there is clarity over the project that has seen many ebbs and crests over several years. The site already has in place the NOCs required for the construction to begin with when it was proposed in 2001. In total it constituted 35 villages. Needless to say both the builders and buyers are excited at the fresh move only hoping that it does not turn out to be a dampener as it had earlier.

With Jewar Airport all set to become a reality in future, there are big hopes for the revival of real estate markets in Noida Expressway, Greater Noida, Yamuna Expressway, Ghaziabad, and even Agra.
