Women Palante’s Second Dance-a-Thon Fundraiser: Helping Women Entrepreneurs Step Up Their Path to Success

 The second annual Women Palante’s Dance-A-Thon fundraiser will once again rock the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart on Sunday, May 15, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

This time the Dance-A-Thon will add more rhythms to the mix, with expert dance instructors, food stalls, food trucks, a fun photo booth as well as a prize raffle from local sponsors.

The event is planning to raise over $7,000 to support the Women Palante’s programs of care, education and advocacy for Latina women entrepreneurs.

“This year, we are joining forces with local companies and organizations such as Sport&Health, Ignite, Arepazone, Kofemi Grub n’Go, among others, and co-organizing with the Amigas Group of Stone Ridge to raise money for our programs,” Yurani Sandoval, Women Palante’s CEO and Founder, mentioned, “the Dance-A-Thon is a great way to bring people together, have a fantastic time, and fundraise for vulnerable Latina women.”

“The power of the Dance-A-Thon is about creating awareness too,” Sandoval added, “Latina women are underrepresented and they lack the right tools to become entrepreneurs; this fundraiser gives women —especially single moms— a chance to launch their businesses, improve the ones they already have and get their feet off the ground,” Sandoval concluded.

Women Palante’s distinctiveness is to bring a wellness component into their business-related-programs, so women can have more confidence, improve their self-esteem and be able to thrive and succeed.

Women of Venusverse “Genesis” Collection with NFT Validation by UREEQA now available on Opensea

Venusverse, an organization designed to give women insight into the world of Web3, announces the launch of a ground-breaking new NFT collection that will be protected by UREEQA, a leading digital validation company that helps creators protect, manage and monetize creative work.
The Women of Venusverse “Genesis” Collection of 2,022 NFTs is a one-of-a-kind art collection with membership access to the Venusverse community.

Ten percent of revenue from the collection will be donated to the CivicAction Leadership Foundation in support of women in that organization’s leadership programs, including the DiverseCity Fellows and the Emerging Leaders Network.

The “Genesis” Collection launched on April 19 on the Opensea.io marketplace.

“2,022” is somewhat of a representation of the number six (2+2+2), which is said to be the number of unconditional love and selflessness. Venus (named after the Roman Goddess of love and beauty) is the sixth planet in the solar system in terms of size and mass. And the 0 comes in because the stars aligned considering Venusverse launched as a company in 2022.

According to Venusverse CEO and co-founder, Janelle Chalouhi, the beautiful, eclectic and diverse 2,022 art pieces “represent women from across the world, bringing us all together under one collection.”

Chalouhi described to Ontario-based digital artist and designer Fatima Gharaibeh her vision behind representing diversity among women from across the world as well as the properties and layers she wanted to include in the collection and Gharaibeh brought the vision to life in a beautiful way. That is how the first 114 NFTs were first created, 104 of which are animated. The properties were then used to generate the remaining 1,908 NFTs through generative art.

“To me this was a nod to the new digital era we have entered into, where we use tech to enhance the work we do and hopefully to do good,” Chalouhi said.

Collectors who buy into the Genesis Collection of 2,022 NFTs will gain membership access to the Venusverse community, and they’ll also be granted peace of mind thanks to UREEQA.

THEMUSEUM’s CEO, David Marskell, introduced the two startups and asked both CEOs to serve on a recent panel with Museums Canada. It’s only fitting that THEMUSEUM will be hosting the Women of Venusverse launch event in May at their Voodoo Lounge followed by an exhibit.

The next step for Venusverse was to protect the collection, and that’s where UREEQA came in. The entire collection will be validated by UREEQA’s Responsible Minting(TM) technology, with the platform’s Package of Proof(TM) giving buyers the critical assurance that what they’re purchasing is the real deal.

“Since I decided to go this route, I knew that the provenance and the authenticity of the collection was so important, especially given the amount of scams that are happening right now,” Chalouhi said. “I needed the collection to essentially have a digital signature, which is why we’ve partnered with UREEQA to validate and authenticate the art, and to make the collection even more exclusive.”

“Not only is this UREEQA’s first opportunity to validate an entire NFT collection, but it also represents a chance for us to team up with a platform that shares similar values,” UREEQA CEO Kirk Fergusson said. “Both UREEQA and Venusverse are focused on launching and supporting art that is honest and authentic, and the best way to provide that assurance to a buyer is by having the work validated. We are thrilled to provide that for the 2,022 collection.”

A global network of validators will use UREEQA’s platform and technology to analyze the authenticity of the full collection. At the end of the validation process, a Package of Proof will be generated which documents all the steps taken by UREEQA and its validation team to verify the authenticity of the work. The key information is made available on a provenance page, which is contained in the Venusverse website, providing an easy-to-use resource for prospective NFT buyers to verify the authenticity of a creation of interest.

And because key information about the creative work’s authenticity is stored in a record on the blockchain, drop-day purchasers and those who buy the validated work on resale can be assured that they’re getting the legit product, no matter when or where they’re jumping in.

Women Write Now Fellow Wilandrea Blair to Sign Development Deal with NBCUNIVERSAL Television & Streaming As Part of Comedic Screenwriting Fellowship from Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud

Laugh Out Loud, the multi-platform comedy brand founded by Kevin Hart, announced that Women Write Now fellow Wilandrea Blair has been awarded a development deal with NBCUniversal Television & Streaming to develop projects for the Peacock streaming platform, produced by LOL Studios.  The announcement was made during the Women Write Now Celebration event which took place Saturday, March 26, 2022, at NeueHouse Hollywood to honor fellowship recipients and guest directors, Danielle Nicolet, Moni Oyedepo, Wilandrea Blair, Gabrielle Dennis, Meagan Good, and Bresha Webb.  

Launched in July 2021, Laugh Out Loud’s Women Write Now, presented by Chase Sapphire and developed in partnership with Sundance Institute, is a comedic writing fellowship designed to champion and elevate the next generation of Black women in comedy through mentorship, advocacy, production, and exhibition.  Chosen from a pool of over 670 submissions, Blair was selected alongside fellows Danielle Nicolet and Moni Oyedepo to develop and produce their comedic scripts under the guidance and mentorship of award-winning filmmakers, industry leaders, Laugh Out Loud executives, and partners from Sundance Institute. Each fellow was paired with one of the Women Write Now guest directors—Gabrielle Dennis (A Black Lady Sketch Show), Meagan Good (Harlem), and Bresha Webb (Run the World)—to bring their project to life working alongside the LOL Studios production team. The short films–Buddy and Bernice (written by Wilandrea Blair, directed by Gabrielle Dennis), Black Karen (written by Danielle Nicolet, directed by Meagan Good), and Take the Job (written by Moni Oyedepo, directed by Bresha Webb– are streaming exclusively on Peacock. 

Following the completion of their short films, each fellow had the opportunity to pitch new projects to NBCUniversal and Laugh Out Loud executives for the chance to secure a development deal with NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, with Blair’s submission being selected from the three.

19 Women from APAC recognised with Women Icons Asia Awards 2022 at Collective for Equality Summit

Nineteen women and one corporate from the Asia Pacific were recognised at the annual Women Icons Asia Awards 2022 presented by the Singapore-based Women Icons Network (WIN). The awards were announced in conjunction with the Collective for Equality Summit hosted virtually on March 24 & 25.
The Women Icons Asia Awards celebrate and honour the accomplishments and contributions of women who have excelled in different spheres of life and are an inspiration to society. This year the awards were presented across Technology, Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and D&I Champion categories.

The recipients were selected through an online nomination process, initially vetted by the WIN Research Team and then judged by an eminent jury comprising of Sherie Ng, Country Director, Singapore-Malaysia, Google Cloud; Tricia Liverpool, General Manager, Cornerstone Global Partners, Singapore; Beatrix Eder, Transformational Coach, Beatrix Eder Coaching, Singapore; Purvi Sheth, MD, Shilputsi Consultants, India; Datuk Zunaidah Idris, former Head of Dealing, Hong Leong Investment Bank, Malaysia and Dr Timothy Low, CEO, Farrer Park Hospital, Singapore.

The panel discussions at the Collective for Equality Summit centred around the topic “Breaking The Bias – Challenging Personal Stereotypes” and “Allyship and its Role in Pushing Boundaries on Workplace Equity”. The session on Breaking the Bias was moderated by WIN founder Vishwesh Iyer, and the panelists were Malaysia based strategy, innovation and leadership consultant Dr Marcella Lucas, head of corporate sales of Google Cloud for Singapore-Malaysia, Sophie Wong and general manager of Cornerstone Global Partners, Tricia Liverpool.

The session on Allyship was moderated by Singapore-based transformational coach Beatrix Eder and the panelists included CEO of India based HR management firm Shilputsi Consultants, Purvi Sheth, CEO of the Southeast Asia global PR firm Edelman, Adrian Warr and head of corporate communication and marketing for the Asia Pacific region at global logistics firm DB Schenker, Andrew Seah.
