CS to visit Guangzhou, Huizhou and Shenzhen

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Chan Kwok-ki, will depart tomorrow (January 8) for a three-day visit to three Mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), namely Guangzhou, Huizhou and Shenzhen.
      
     Mr Chan will meet with government leaders of Guangdong Province and the GBA Mainland cities concerned to discuss issues of mutual concern and strengthen exchanges and co-operation on various fronts. Among other things, he will attend the signing ceremony of a framework agreement on promoting Guangdong-Hong Kong talent co-operation and co-chair with a government leader of Guangdong Province the inaugural meeting of the co-ordination mechanism on Guangdong-Hong Kong talent co-operation. He will also visit a number of companies and organisations, and meet with Hong Kong people and enterprises in the cities concerned.  
      
     The Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung; the Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mr Lam Sai-hung; the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Chris Sun; and the Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Ms Lillian Cheong, will join the itinerary of Guangzhou tomorrow. They will return to Hong Kong the same day.

     Mr Chan will return to Hong Kong on January 10. During Mr Chan’s absence, the Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Cheuk Wing-hing, will be the Acting Chief Secretary for Administration.

     The Secretary for Education, Dr Choi Yuk-lin, will depart on Monday (August 28) for Shenzhen and Guangzhou to attend the “Mainland study tour of the senior secondary subject of Citizenship and Social Development (CS) thanksgiving session and launch ceremony of the new school year”, jointly organised by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and the Education Bureau. The Permanent Secretary for Education, Ms Michelle Li, will join the event.
 
     During the visit, Dr Choi will tour an enterprise that is a receiving unit for participants of CS study tours and the Guangzhou University City to learn about its planning, operation and management.
 
     Dr Choi will return to Hong Kong on Tuesday afternoon (August 29). During her absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Sze Chun-fai, will be the Acting Secretary for Education.

     ​The Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr Tse Chin-wan, concluded his visit to Guangzhou and Zhaoqing today (July 20).

     Mr Tse visited Nansha District of Guangzhou yesterday morning (July 19). He first visited a high-rise pig farm to learn about the technology and operation of modernised pig farms. The pig farm is currently the highest livestock complex in Guangdong Province. Thereafter, he also visited a vegetable farm and received a briefing from a representative of the farm on their advanced facilities and agricultural product safety tracking system.

     Yesterday afternoon, Mr Tse visited the Guangdong International Fishery High Tech Park and exchanged views on aquaculture, recreational fishing, integrated training and services schemes, etc. He also learnt about the high-density closed recirculating aquaculture system adopted in the Park. Thereafter, he visited the Vegetable Basket Project (Zengcheng) Customs Clearance Facilitation Zone of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The Zone, which came into operation in mid-2020, aims to strengthen the co-operation in the food safety of agricultural products in the GBA and enhance the quality of agricultural products.

     Mr Tse visited Conghua Racecourse this morning together with the Director-General of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guangdong Province, Mr Liu Zonghui; the Executive Director of Corporate Affairs of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr Raymond Tam; and the Executive Director of Racing of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr Andrew Harding, to exchange views on deepening co-operation between the Mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government on matters such as developing the GBA’s equine industry. Conghua Racecourse is the first thoroughbred horse training centre and a racecourse on the Mainland that meets the highest world standards, providing a support base for horses in Hong Kong to travel along the biosecurity passage between Hong Kong and the Equine Disease Free Zone in Conghua for training purposes.

     Mr Tse returned to Hong Kong this afternoon.

     The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, will depart for Foshan and Guangzhou tomorrow (July 11). He will meet with officials responsible for cultural and tourism issues in both municipal governments, as well as visit arts and cultural facilities.
 
     Mr Yeung will return to Hong Kong on July 12 afternoon. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Raistlin Lau, will be the Acting Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism.

     The Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung, called on the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department and the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau in Guangzhou and Shenzhen respectively today (April 27). 

     Mr Tang yesterday (April 26) concluded the visit to Beijing and departed for Guangzhou. This morning, he called on the Director of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, Mr Wang Zhizhong, and exchanged views on issues involving the two places, such as the flow of talent, joint efforts to combat cross-boundary criminal activities, cross-boundary smuggling and parallel trading activities, as well as illegal immigrants. Expressing his gratitude to the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department for its support for the work of the Security Bureau and its disciplined services, Mr Tang said he hopes that the two places will build on the existing solid foundation to take forward collaboration on all fronts to support the work of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to safeguard national security and stability in society.

     In the afternoon, Mr Tang departed for Shenzhen to call on the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau. He met with the Director General, Mr Liu Guozhou, and discussed with him the flow of talent, emergency rescue and the collaboration on combatting various cross-boundary crimes. Mr Tang and Mr Liu also shared with each other experiences on combatting crimes, especially deception offences. Mr Tang said that the Mainland and Hong Kong have been working closely and that he looks forward to strengthening co-operation and exchanges with the Shenzhen Municipality and working together to take forward the relevant key areas of work.

     Mr Tang concluded the four-day visit to Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen and returned to Hong Kong in the evening.
