Venus Remedies’ manufacturing unit, located in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, India, has been recommended for supplying cephalosporin dry powder, a class of β-lactam antibiotic for treating bacterial infections, to UNICEF. The company’s adherence to the highest standards of manufacturing excellence, as evident by its compliance with WHO Technical Report Series 986, reinforces its position as a trusted partner in global healthcare supply chains.

With this approval, Venus Remedies continues to strengthen its international presence, building upon its extensive portfolio of certifications from regulatory bodies worldwide. “This recognition from UNICEF further validates our relentless pursuit of excellence in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Metropolis’ MedEngage Program awards 301 Medical Students with Scholarships and Research Grants totaling INR 1.7 Crore.

Metropolis Foundation, the CSR arm of India’s leading diagnostic chain, Metropolis Healthcare Limited, hosted the 6th edition of the MedEngage Annual Summit 2024 today in Chennai. As the flagship CSR initiative of Metropolis, MedEngage serves as a holistic medical outreach program that nurtures young medical talent in India. Envisioned by Metropolis Chairman, Dr. Sushil Shah, MedEngage is designed to offer comprehensive guidance, support and direction to emerging healthcare professionals in India.

At this year’s summit, a total of scholarships worth INR 1.7 crore were awarded to 301 medical students, out of which 29 students were presented with research grants. MedEngage Scholarships were presented to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students across all years of MBBS education, including the postgraduate training years of MD/MS/DNB, alongside the intervening internship year. The scholarships acknowledge outstanding achievements in academic scores, extra-curricular activities, and research papers/thesis presentations.

Key government officials from Tamil Nadu, including Mr. Kumar Jayant, I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Labour Welfare, and Skill Development Department, Dr. P. Shanmugapriya, MD., Associate Professor of Microbiology, Nodal Officer (e-Governance) at Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Tamil Nadu, graced the event as key dignitaries. Additionally, medical luminaries from different specialties also participated in the event, contributing to the recognition of the nation’s emerging medical talent.

A key highlight is that 60% of the scholarship recipients are women, emphasizing the program’s commitment to gender diversity and inclusivity in the medical field. Furthermore, in line with the initiative to support government efforts in uplifting aspirational districts, around 60 students were selected from such districts, reflecting the program’s dedication to societal development and equitable access to opportunities. The entire selection process is managed by Deloitte and involves a thorough and competitive procedure for choosing scholarship recipients. Additionally, an eminent jury from the medical fraternity evaluated candidates for research grants, fostering a culture of research and innovation.

NAB Innovation Centre India expands with new office opening

National Australia Bank (NAB) today opened its second office in one of India’s largest business districts, a move that will strengthen the bank’s technology teams and improve its operational services to support customers.

The new 8-storey block 3 building at DLF Downtown is the bank’s third office space in India, with more than 9,000 square metres on the third floor designed to support more than 700 colleagues working in technology and operations teams. NAB now has more than 20,000 square metres of office space across buildings in India.

NAB Innovation Centre India Executive and Country Head Neeraj Goyal said the new office would allow NAB to increase its expertise across important areas including cyber security, technology, lending services and payments.

 

“With more than 93% of customer interactions now taking place online, the need to invest in technology, operations and digital capabilities has never been greater,” Mr Goyal said.

 

“The move towards digital banking and digitised services continues to grow. To address that we’ve been growing quickly over the last 19 months, tapping into India’s vast information technology and operations ecosystem, complementing teams in Australia and other global locations that we support.”

“Expanding our operations in the heart of India’s technology and financial district will help NAB to attract the best talent and serve customers, including extending NAB’s hours of service leveraging global time zones. NAB is Australia’s second largest bank and launched the NAB Innovation Centre India, based in Gurugram in July 2022.

The new office sits alongside its investment in upskilling and training programs for colleagues – including FINSIA’s globally recognised Career Qualified in Banking Accreditation (CQiB), Distinctive Leadership program for all leaders and a wide range of cloud training programs through the NAB Cloud Guild, including the AWS She Builds Cloudup program open to all colleagues. Across NAB, more than 5600 cloud certifications have been gained since the program began in 2018.

Adani Green Energy operationalizes 1,000 MW (1 GW) of the 30,000 MW Khavda renewable energy park

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s largest and one of the world’s leading renewable energy (RE) companies, has operationalized cumulative capacity of 1,000 MW solar energy at the world’s largest RE park at Khavda, Gujarat. With this, AGEL has achieved operational capacity of 9,478 MW and continues its journey to the stated goal of 45,000 MW by 2030.

AGEL delivered 1,000 MW in less than 12 months of commencing work at Khavda. This involved installing approximately 2.4 million solar modules. The accelerated progress underscores AGEL’s commitment to India’s goal of achieving 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

 

The world’s largest RE plant of 30 GW spans a staggering 538 sq km of barren land, five times the size of Paris. The project is expected to be completed in the next five years and will create over 15,200 green jobs. (For more information on the plant, refer to annexure.)

 

Leveraging the proven project execution capabilities of Adani Infra, technological expertise of Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), operational excellence of AIMSL, robust supply chain, AGEL is set to replicate its success in building and operating India’s first and the world’s largest wind-solar hybrid cluster at Jaisalmer.

 

Innovative solutions are being deployed at Khavda to integrate sustainable practices. AGEL has committed to deploy waterless cleaning robots for the entire solar capacity to address dust accumulation on panels to increase the energy output and help conserve water in the arid Kutch region. This will enable AGEL’s water neutrality goals aligned to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6.
