TD Mobile, in which DENSO and Toyota Tsusho have invested, announcing transfer of cell phone sales and agency business to newly established subsidiary of ranet

DENSO Corporation and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (Toyota Tsusho) today announced that TD Mobile Corporation (TD Mobile), which is a joint venture of DENSO and Toyota Tsusho has concluded a company split agreement with a newly established subsidiary (the new subsidiary) of ranet Co.,Ltd. (ranet) in relation to its cell phone sales and agency business (excluding some sales stores). TD Mobile will transfer the above business to the new subsidiary as a result of the company split.

TD mobile was established in April 2009 through the separation and integration of the mobile phone sales business, which had been operated by subsidiaries of DENSO and Toyota Tsusho. Since its establishment, TD mobile operated carrier stores and provided mobile phone solutions to corporate users by leveraging the strengths of the two companies. However, DENSO and Toyota Tsusho have decided that it is more appropriate to pursue further growth in this business under the equity of other companies that already have a business base.

ranet, which is the parent company of the new subsidiary, is engaged in the mobile phone sales business as a member of the BicCamera Group, which is a major electronics and home appliances store. It operates 116 carrier stores (as of June 30, 2023, including subsidiaries) across Japan and sells mobile communication products at over 200 electronics stores of the group. TD mobile aims to expand the carrier store business and the business for corporate users under the BicCamera Group while leveraging mutual synergies, including the network of stores and the sales foundation.

DENSO and Toyota Tsusho will rapidly reinforce their focus fields and domains and contribute to the further development of the mobility-centered society while continuing to transform the business portfolio and improve profitability.

Making mobile games in 2023 Hub Crawl session: an overview

WEBWIRE

One thing Ukie has learnt from the pandemic is that virtual events are an important feature to our calendar. As an organisation which represents the whole of the UK, virtual events allow participants and attendees to join from multiple hubs and beyond – bringing with them a unique collection of speakers and topics.

Our first virtual Hub Crawl kicked off with Making Games for Mobile in 2023. Salman Shurie from Gesinimo Games started proceedings by unpicking the development process of his viral hit Tap Tricks.Salman explained where he went right, and perhaps just as interestingly, where he went wrong and evolved from what he had learned. Additionally, the term toy was used, because as Salman described, a toy should be something easily accessible and which comes naturally, therefore the UI had to reflect that. Listen to Salmans talk here.

Next up was Reedah El-Saie from Brainspark Games, a current member of our Barclays Mobile Growth programme. Reedah explore her background in law (and if you watched Daxs talk from last week at Brighton you may notice a theme emerging!) and how mobile is the ideal platform for educational games.Listen to Reedahs talk here.

Tristan Clark from Trailmix stepped up next with the story of their game Love & Pies and the importance of storytelling where the caf is literally and figuratively burnt down. Tristan explored how Trailmix wanted to make something nourishing in the mobile space, while staying within the bites of playtime that mobile players have become accustomed to.Listen to this in-depth talk from Tristan here.

Finally, we had Maria Sayans from ustwo games as our second Hub Crawl hero of the series. Maria discussed the story of ustwo games, the main challenges and opportunities present in the mobile space and how it may change going forward. A key takeaway was when she reflected on the rise of cosy games, thrilled that ustwo games have become part of that movement and how cosy and wholesome is the start of the path towards being meaningful. Accessible stories and gameplay that goes beyond entertainment for the player encouraging emotions, thinking, connection and perhaps future action.Listen to Marias fireside chat here.

As always, a big thank you to our overarching partner Barclays Games and eSports and to our virtual partner, AWS.

Up next is Newcastle see you there!

All of our Hub Crawls, both in-person and online can be found on our Eventbrite collection

Zuma’s Mobile & Indoor Pet Grooming Entering 3rd Year of Business in Smithville, Missouri

Established small business owner Kristine Bunch, MBA, is entering into Zuma’s Indoor & Mobile Pet Grooming, LLC, 3rd year in business. Opened in early 2020, pre-pandemic, Bunch simply wanted to get her beloved service dogs groomed in her driveway. Bunch quickly found out there were no local mobile pet groomers accepting new customers. Bunch moved back to Kansas City in 2019, from California to help her World War II Veteran Grandfather transition from his home to a retirement facility, it was then that she felt it was time to jump out of corporate America altogether and start a small business. Several growing pains throughout the pandemic occurred with high inflation rates and rising supply costs along with employment shortages.

In 2020, Zuma’s Mobile Pet Grooming began servicing customers in their driveways and in 2022, an indoor storefront location was created at 507 S. US 169 Highway in Smithville, Missouri. Zuma’s Indoor Pet Grooming Salon includes 2 FirePaw Doggie Treadmills and 16 Shoreline Stainless Steel Veterinary Grade Crates for safe & clean protection of all dogs while in the grooming salon.

Zuma’s Indoor & Mobile Pet Grooming Team consists of Lead Mobile Groomer Rebekah with 21 years experience, Lead Indoor Groomer Andrea with 11 years experience, Groomer Josie with 10 years experience and Groomer Nyle with also 10 years experience.
