As it usually happens, the unveiling of new flagship chipsets opens a floodgate of new flagship phone launches. Oppo is kicking off the Find X9 generation with two models – one mid-sized model and one large model. This happened last year too, later on we got the top of the line Ultra phone and the small “s” model.
Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro
The Oppo Find X9 and X9 Pro are both powered by the new Dimensity 9500. The new chipset has a 32% faster CPU, 33% faster GPU and a massively faster NPU, up 111%. It’s not just about speed, the 9500 is more efficient too, by 55% for the CPU, 42% for the GPU and 56% for the NPU.

The X9 models have 120Hz OLEDs that can reach 1,800 nits full-screen brightness and up to 3,600 nits peak brightness with the outdoor mode. They can also go all the way down to just 1 nit for checking your phone at night.

One key improvement this generation is the ultrasonic fingerprint reader – the optical reader of the X8 series has been retired.
The Oppo Find X9 features a 6.59” display, the same size as its predecessor. However, it got a massive battery upgrade – the vanilla model now boasts 7,025mAh capacity, 1,395mAh more than the X8. The charging speed is the same, not that it needed an upgrade – the phone can do 80W over a wire and 50W wirelessly (plus, it offers 10W reverse charging).
The Oppo Find X9 Pro has a larger 6.78” 120Hz display. Again, that’s the same as its predecessor. The ultrasonic FP reader is on this model too.
Oppo Find X9 Pro
The Pro model has an even larger 7,500mAh battery. That is 1,590mAh more than last year’s Pro. The charge system is the same – 90W wired, 50W wireless, 10W reverse. According to Oppo, the battery health will be at least 80% after 5 years of use.
Oppo Find X9 Pro
Alright, let’s talk about cameras and we’ll start with the Pro. The main camera uses the 50MP Sony LYT-828, a 1/1.28” sensor. It is larger and a couple of generations ahead of the 1/1.4” LYT-808 inside the X8 Pro. It has a better lens too, an f/1.5 7-element lens with OIS. Interestingly, Oppo has chosen a new default for the camera – 50MP mode, instead of the usual 12MP.
Moving on, the 200MP Hasselblad camera features a 1/1.56” sensor with pixel-level calibration and DCG-HDR (Dual Conversion Gain, meaning that pixels are sampled twice for each photo). This sensor sits behind a Hasselblad-certified 70mm lens with an f/2.1 aperture. It has a Prism Hybrid OIS with Active Optical Alignment. For comparison, X8 Pro’s 73mm tele camera had a smaller 50MP 1/1.95” sensor.
Oppo put a lot of effort into video capture too. First, instead of long-form videos, you can capture Motion Photos. But if you do want a longer video, you can capture high-quality footage with a log mode or using Dolby Vision. All cameras can record 4K 60fps Dolby Vision videos. The main and telephoto cameras can even go up to 4K 120fps.
The smaller and cheaper Oppo Find X9 features a 50MP main camera using the old Pro’s sensor – the 1/1.4” LYT-808 with an f/1.6 lens with OIS. For comparison, the X8 had a smaller 50MP 1/1.56” LYT-700 sensor with a narrower f/1.8 aperture.
This is joined by a 50MP 73mm periscope (f/2.6 lens with OIS) based on the 1/1.95” LYT-600 sensor. This is the same as last year. Then there is the 50MP 15mm ultra-wide module (f/2.0 AF lens and 1/2.75” Samsung JN5 sensor). Finally, Oppo has equipped the phone with a True Color Camera, a 9-channel multi-spectral sensor.
Oppo Find X9
Going back to the Oppo Find X9 Pro for a moment, Oppo and Hasselblad have created a teleconverter accessory. This add-on lens has 12 glass elements and boosts optical zoom to 10x for photos (up to 200x digital zoom). Video zoom goes up to 50x. This accessory is available only for the X9 Pro for now.
The Oppo Find X9 series launches with ColorOS 16, based on Android 16. Oppo is promising 5 OS updates and a total of 6 years of security patches.
It features deep integration with Google’s Gemini AI, in addition to in-house AI features – e.g., in-house image demosaicing and denoising for the camera, plus features like AI Portrait Glow, an AI Recorder and an AI Mind Space. One interesting detail is that ColorOS 16 natively supports pairing with an Apple Watch.
The two phones are rated for water resistance with IP66 (water jets), IP68 (submersion) and IP69 (hot water jets).
The Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro are currently on pre-order in China. We’ve listed the prices below starting with the base models (12GB/256GB for both versions) all the way to the top models (16GB/1TB).
