FedDev Ontario supports nine projects across Windsor-Essex to fuel community revitalization and create conditions for local economies to rebound
With its close proximity to the United States, local markets and an educated and skilled workforce, Windsor-Essex offers prime conditions for communities to thrive and do business. Community infrastructure is at the heart of local communities, bringing together residents and visitors alike, while supporting local businesses, jobs and economies.
Today, the Honourable Helena Jaczek, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced an investment of over $2 million to enhance nine Windsor-area community spaces under the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF). With this investment, recipients will build or enhance community infrastructure, and adapt public spaces to encourage the safe return of locals and visitors.
The announcement was made at an event hosted by the Essex Region Conservation Authority, which received $940,000 towards three community projects. This includes $85,000 to support the accessibility of John R. Park Homestead Heritage and Conservation Centre through the addition of a paved entrance pathway and second-floor lift, as well as improvements to the accessible washroom.

Windsor-Essex is home to nearly 400,000 people, across nine regional municipalities. The region’s geographical location, lakefront living, temperate climate and small-city lifestyle with big-city amenities are what make it a unique, rapidly growing part of Canada.
With a national investment of $500 million over two years, the Canada Community Revitalization Fund supports projects that build new community infrastructure and revitalize existing assets, bring people back to public spaces safely and stimulate local economies. This includes $139 million for projects in southern Ontario, delivered by FedDev Ontario.
The Government of Canada, through FedDev Ontario, has invested nearly $100 million in nearly 120 projects across Windsor-Essex, creating over 1,250 jobs and maintaining almost 5,000 jobs. This includes over $1 million announced earlier today for Dimachem Inc. to expand its production capabilities.
The Government of Canada, through FedDev Ontario is also providing $2.5 million for Windsor businesses impacted by the illegal blockade of the Ambassador Bridge.
