Venezuela Deports Drug-traffickers to the U.S. and France

A Colombian paramilitary was also deported
On Monday, February 1, the Venezuelan government deported Salomón Camacho, one of the top 12 drug-traffickers sought by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Similarly, the government deported Jean Marie Bonnamy, who is wanted in France for cocaine trafficking; and Oscar Ospino Pacheco, accused by Colombia of being a member of the northern block of the Colombian paramilitary group Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC).
Salomón Camacho headed the Norte del Valle cartel in Colombia. Camacho was captured January 13 by officials of the National Bolivarian Intelligence Service (SEBIN, formerly known as DISIP) and the National Anti-Drug Office (ONA) in the northern Venezuelan state of Carabobo.
Jean Marie Bonnamy, 51, has been accused of shipping cocaine from Colombia to France between 2006 and 2009. Bonammy was captured on Monday, January 18 in Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta, due to intelligence operations carried out by the Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigative Body (CICPC), the ONA and French officials in Venezuela.
Oscar José Ospino, 34, accused of homicide, forced disappearance and conspiracy to commit crime, was captured by the CICPC on December 21, 2009 in Miranda.
In 2009 Venezuela’s police and military bodies detained and deported 16 leaders of international drug-trafficking organizations.
