TD teams up with ICAC in examination into 8 individuals who requested direct concern of Hong Kong driving licence utilizing incorrect files

The Transport Department (TD) today (November 19) stated that it was working together with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) in an examination into a case including 8 individuals utilizing incorrect files to obtain the direct concern of the Hong Kong Full Driving Licence.
A spokesperson for the TD stated, “The TD rendered full assistance to the ICAC during its investigation into the case and has cancelled the Hong Kong driving licences of the persons concerned based on the investigation findings. The investigation is ongoing. The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region stresses that the ‘direct issue’ arrangements in Hong Kong with the recognised countries or places are operated on the principles of mutual recognition and reciprocity. The Government has zero tolerance against anyone in or outside Hong Kong obtaining a driving licence through fraudulent activities, thereby jeopardising road safety and the confidence of road users.”
The TD declares that every “direct issue” application is carefully processed and confirmed to make sure that candidates fulfill the legal requirements.
