A day after numerous treasure spaces (toshkhana) were purchased to resume in Mathura’s Banke Bihari temple by the Supreme Court-appointed panel for the very first time in 54 years, the shrine’s priests on Sunday declared gold and silver bars, gems and valuable coins were discovered in a long box in among the sealed chambers.
Temple priest Dinesh Goswami informed TOI, “One gold bar and 3 silver bars were found with ‘gulal’ on it. They were recuperated from a long box in the toshkhana. The metals were each approximately 3-4 feet in length. In addition, a couple of gems of red and green colour, valuable coins and utensils of various metals were discovered.”
The spaces were locked because 1971 and the choice to resume them was taken last month by a high-powered panel.
Mathura DSP Mathura Sadar, Sandeep Singh, who was amongst those who went into the chamber, stated a video of the workout was made which committee members and cops existed throughout the opening.
