ColorOS 16 announced, going global with the Find X9 series

Oppo announced ColorOS 16 today with an updated visual look, improved performance and plenty of new features and revamped system apps. It is set to debut on the Oppo Find X9 series tomorrow while also gradually making its way to older Oppo devices in the coming months.

The new update brings seamless system animations which deliver instant app launches and interactions with apps, menus and widgets. Animations are triggered at the point of touch and return smoothly when dismissed for a faster feeling UI.

Oppo’s Luminous Rendering Engine ensures smooth transitions across all aspects of the UI by taking control of all visual components and ensuring sustained performance even during heavy workloads with multiple open apps and background processes.

It is joined by the new Trinity Engine, which optimizes system resources at the chip-level, including smart resource allocation, prioritizing speed during multitasking and also improving power efficiency.

In terms of numbers, Oppo claims app launches are now 28% faster, loading times are cut by 21% while CPU load is down by as much as 14% during regular use.

Oppo says ColorOS 16’s design is inspired by nature, and more specifically, the interplay of light and shadow. The lockscreen now supports motion photos and videos as wallpapers. Users also get access to a wider selection of fonts and а full-screen Always On Display (AOD) option.

The home screen in ColorOS 16 features a new Flux Home Screen option, allowing users to quickly resize folders and apps in different shapes, such as wide, tall and large.

The same option is also applicable to folders and the UI will automatically adapt the surrounding apps, widgets and folders. Oppo’s Live Alerts now support more apps for displaying info and system status around the selfie camera cutout.

Oppo’s AI suite is getting updates too, with the AI Eraser, AI Unblur, and AI Reflection Remover for photos and a new AI Portrait Glow, which aims to improve images taken in low light by optimizing light and skin tones.

Oppo is also upgrading the O+ Connect suite with improvements to notification sync, file transfers and device management across Mac and Windows PCs.

OPPO ColorOS 16 Official Introduction

ColorOS 16 starts rolling out in China from October 30, 2025. The first set of devices set to receive the new interface includes the Find X8 series, Find N5, and Chinese versions of the OnePlus 13 and 13T. The rollout will continue in the coming months. Oppo’s Find X9 series will come with ColorOS 16 out of the box.
