India’s native Uttam radar marks a significant upgrade for Tejas Mk1A fighter jets, providing innovative abilities straight in the cockpit. Established by DRDO’s LRDE, this AESA radar utilizes 912 transmit/receive modules to discover fighter-sized targets over 150 km away, with electronic beam guiding making it possible for immediate target tracking, multi-mode operations, and low likelihood of obstruct. With 95% regional elements, Uttam lowers reliance on foreign providers. Beginning with the 41st Tejas Mk1A, HAL will phase out Israeli EL/M -2052 radars throughout the fleet of 97 jets. Checked for over 250 flight hours, Uttam supports Astra Mk1 and other BVR rockets, with Meteor combination contingent on export clearance. Serial production in Hyderabad and Bengaluru signals India’s preparedness to display “Make in India” defense innovation worldwide.
