EMSD reveals most current tasting results for legionella at fresh water cooling towers

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) today (August 7) revealed that the department evaluated 75 water samples gathered from cooling towers in 51 structures throughout its regular assessments in July 2025. 2 samples were found to have an overall legionella count at or above the upper limit, which is 1 000 colony-forming systems per millilitre. The most recent data are set out in Annex 1.

The cooling towers in which the samples were gathered lie at Hong Man Industrial Centre, 2 Hong Man Street, Eastern, and 3 Tak Ku Ling Road, Kowloon City. The EMSD has actually released annoyance notifications under the general public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance to the owners of the cooling towers needing suitable disinfection work to be done.
