The Director-General of Civil Aviation, Mr Victor Liu, went to the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) Innovation Lab and was upgraded on Flight and Flow Information for a Collaborative Environment (FF-ICE), Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO), along with the current advancements of local air traffic management jobs today (August 7). He likewise took this chance to applaud the CAD group on their effective involvement in the inaugural Asia-Pacific Regional Laboratory Demonstration of TBO kept in Hanoi, Vietnam, from July 22 to 24.
TBO is an innovative air traffic management (ATM) technique being promoted worldwide by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in line with the Global Air Navigation Plan to optimise flight operations and improve trajectory management. Through System Wide Information Management, FF-ICE types the structure for TBO, making it possible for richer and more collective info such as flight trajectories, weather condition, airport operations and air traffic circulation management details to be shared amongst airspace users and air navigation company (ANSPs) under the platform. This collective method can assist to optimise flight courses, hence efficiently minimizing flight time, fuel intake and carbon emissions, making ATM and flight operations more effective and eco-friendly.
Because 2023, the CAD has actually been working carefully with other ANSPs in the Asia-Pacific area on trial details exchanges for TBO. Throughout the lab presentation kept in Hanoi, the CAD effectively showcased its FF-ICE model system established internal to the local ANSPs, showing the CAD’s technological development and leader position in the field of future ATM advancement.
Mr Liu applauded the group’s devotion and motivated them to continue to accept and efficiently use brand-new innovations and actively take part in local partnership. The CAD will continue to work carefully with the ICAO and other ANSPs to even more improve ATM performance to accommodate future air traffic need and development in the Asia-Pacific area.
