The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     ​The spokesman for the Tseung Kwan O Hospital (TKOH) made the following appeal today (April 2) regarding an inpatient leaving the hospital without notifying hospital staff:
 
     A 43-year-old male patient left the surgical ward without notifying hospital staff at around 8pm yesterday (April 1) night. 
 
     Upon departure of the patient without informing the ward, security guards were deployed to search for the patient within the hospital compound and the vicinity. The hospital also reported to the Police for assistance. The patient is yet to be located. 
 
     The hospital is very concerned about the incident and will fully co-operate with the Police in order to locate the patient.
 
     The patient is about 1.7 meters tall, long hair and of thin body build. According to CCTV footage, the patient was wearing patient clothes when he left the hospital.
 
     The hospital appeals to the public to contact the hospital at 2208 1256 or the Police if they know the whereabouts of the patient. TKOH has reported the case to the Hospital Authority Head Office via the Advanced Incident Reporting System.

     A man who went missing in Tseung Kwan O has been located.

     Fung Chi-wah, aged 72, went missing after he left his residence in Tsui Lam Estate on February 13 night. His family made a report to Police yesterday (February 16).

     The man was located in a hospital on Po Ning Lane this afternoon (February 17). No suspicious circumstances were detected.

     The spokesperson for Tseung Kwan O Hospital (TKOH) announced a sentinel event on August 6:

     A 56-year-old female patient with depression was sent to TKOH Accident and Emergency Department (AED) at around 11pm on August 4 due to drug overdose and was admitted to a medical ward.

     As the patient has suicidal risk, healthcare staff placed her near the nurse station so that she could be under close monitor. The patient’s clinical condition and emotion were stable all along.

     At around 7.15pm on August 6, the patient was found to have left the medical ward without notifying hospital staff. Security guards were deployed to search for the patient within the hospital compound but in vain. The hospital reported to the Police and also informed the patient’s family but her family could not reach the patient.

     At 9.05pm, ward staff heard a loud noise and found the patient lying on the podium outside the ward. Healthcare staff from AED were deployed to perform resuscitation immediately. The patient was certified dead at 9.34pm.

     TKOH is saddened by the incident and expressed deep condolences to the patient’s family. The hospital will provide assistance to the family and will fully co-operate with the Police for investigation. The incident has also been reported to the Coroner for follow-up.

     The hospital has reported the incident to the Hospital Authority Head Office through the Advance Incident Reporting System.

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesman for Tseung Kwan O Hospital (TKOH) made the following announcement today (July 8) regarding an industrial accident:

     An accident occurred in TKOH while a contractor was performing routine inspection of an escalator at around 1pm today. A 50-year-old male maintenance worker’s right forearm was amputated. He went to the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital for emergency treatment. The hospital immediately arranged an emergency surgery for him.

     The hospital immediately reported to the Police and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD). The hospital will fully co-operate with the Police, EMSD and Labour Department to investigate the incident. The hospital expresses deep sympathy to the patient and will strive to provide appropriate treatment to him. The hospital has reported the incident to the Hospital Authority Head Office through the Advance Incident Reporting System.

     The Transport Department (TD) today (December 5) reminded members of the public that the toll of the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel will be waived from 0.00am on December 11 (Sunday).



     The Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel will open to traffic at 8am on December 11 and the toll of the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel will be waived from 0.00am on the same day. Motorists are reminded that works will be carried out in phases in the vicinity of the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Toll Plaza starting from around 10pm on December 10, including closure of some of the traffic lanes for shutting down tolling facilities such as toll booths and modification of traffic signs and road markings. During this period, temporary traffic lanes will be set up in the vicinity of the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Toll Plaza and the existing speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour will be maintained. Traffic signs and road markings will be set up on-site to guide motorists.



     The spokesman said, “It is anticipated that the traffic at the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel will be very congested. Members of the public are advised to use public transport and consider using railway services for travelling to/from Kowloon and Tseung Kwan O. Motorists should allow sufficient travelling time, consider using alternative routes, exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of on-site staff.”



     From 0.00am on December 11, motorists can drive through the original Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Toll Plaza without stopping and paying the toll. Please refer to Annex 1 and Annex 2 for traffic arrangements at the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Toll Plaza before and on the implementation day.



     After the implementation of the toll waiver, road works will continue to be carried out in the vicinity of the original Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Toll Plaza including removal of tolling facilities and the canopy. Temporary traffic measures will be adjusted in phases in accordance with the works areas, and adequate traffic lanes will be reserved for vehicles to drive through the vicinity of the toll plaza.
