Tseung Kwan O Hospital announces industrial accident

The spokesman for Tseung Kwan O Hospital (TKOH) made the following announcement today (July 8) regarding an industrial accident:
An accident occurred in TKOH while a contractor was performing routine inspection of an escalator at around 1pm today. A 50-year-old male maintenance worker’s right forearm was amputated. He went to the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital for emergency treatment. The hospital immediately arranged an emergency surgery for him.
The hospital immediately reported to the Police and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD). The hospital will fully co-operate with the Police, EMSD and Labour Department to investigate the incident. The hospital expresses deep sympathy to the patient and will strive to provide appropriate treatment to him. The hospital has reported the incident to the Hospital Authority Head Office through the Advance Incident Reporting System.
