Canada – Consultation on a Proposal to Update Fees for Pest Control Products

Opened on 31 January 2024 and will close for consultation on 31 March 2024.

Health Canada is proposing changes to its fee structure associated with Health Canada’s post-market regulatory activities with respect to pesticides (in other words, the annual charge).

The proposed changes are being brought forward to more accurately reflect the costs for Health Canada’s regulatory activities on pesticides, while also ensuring that appropriate mitigation measures are in place to minimize the economic burden on small businesses and enable continued access to certain pesticides.

How to get involved
Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) invites the public, stakeholders, and partners to submit written comments on the proposal to update fees for pest control products.

This consultation is available for comment for 60 calendar days from the date of publication, with a closure of the comment period on 31 March 2024. Open the “Consultation Document ” link to access the document.

Final regulations will then be published in Canada Gazette, Part II.

Canada – Regulatory Proposal PRO2022-01, Pre-Consultation – Proposed Regulatory Amendments to the Pest Control Products Regulations (Research)

The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) invites the public to submit written comments on Regulatory Proposal PRO2022-01, Pre-Consultation – Proposed Regulatory Amendments to the Pest Control Products Regulations (Research). This proposal is being distributed for information and comments. The PMRA will accept written comments from the public on this proposal for up to 45 days from the date of publication of this document.

Proposal to Reinstate the Statehood in J&K

Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir would be granted at an appropriate time after normalcy is restored in Jammu and Kashmir.

In view of the constitutional changes and bifurcation of the erstwhile state of the Jammu and Kashmir into Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of   Ladakh, in national interest and also in the interest of security of J&K, temporary restrictions on various communication channels like internet and mobile services were resorted to in Jammu and Kashmir.

Subsequently, the matter was reviewed from time to time and restrictions imposed were gradually eased out in a phased manner and 4G internet data services were restored in the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir w.e.f. 05.02.2021.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai in a written reply to question in the Rajya Sabha today.
