The Bullish Farmer Bets Big on Sustainable Agriculture on Documentary Showcase

Scientology Network’s Documentary Showcase, the weekly series providing a platform for Independent filmmakers to air films on important social, cultural and environmental issues, presents the documentary The Bullish Farmer.

Documentary Showcase airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Scientology Network.

The Bullish Farmer tells the story of a Wall Street investment banker turned small farmer. While struggling to build and operate his family farm, John Ubaldo discovers the dangers posed by corporate farming and becomes an advocate for sustainable agriculture.

Directed by Ken Marsolais, The Bullish Farmer follows the journey of John Ubaldo, a former investment banker who left Wall Street to buy and run a small family farm in upstate New York, with an idea to farm as it was done 100 years ago. He was soon forced to confront the realities of competing with powerful corporations and the modern farming methods they employed. With their extensive use of chemicals, pesticides, GMOs and massive confined animal feed operations, he learned their practices were ravaging the soil, polluting the environment, producing less nutritious food and causing unjustified animal suffering. This awareness prompted Ubaldo to become an outspoken activist for sustainable farming in order to educate the public, produce healthy food and preserve small rural farms across the country.

The Bullish Farmer is the recipient of numerous film festival awards, including Best Director, Documentary Feature at the Queens World Film Festival, Kaiser Permanente Thrive Award at Cinequest, Best Documentary Feature at the Jersey Shore Film Festival and many others.

Expanded Farmer Access to Corteva’s Enlist® Herbicides Anticipated for 2024 Growing Season

After successfully completing a comprehensive Endangered Species Act (ESA) consultation process, Corteva Agrisciences innovative Enlist herbicides are poised for expanded use in formerly restricted counties in key growing regions across the U.S.

The rigorous ESA review was initially conducted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), then largely confirmed by consultation with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS). The result is a Final Biological Opinion (BiOp) that supports the restoration of previously restricted counties for use of Enlist herbicides including counties in Texas and Georgia and the elimination of all whole-county application restrictions, broadening farmers future access to this unique and effective system for sustainable weed control.

With its near-zero volatility and reduced potential for physical drift, the Enlistsystem has become a leading choice for effective and neighbor-friendly control of the toughest weeds, said Robert King, Executive Vice President, Crop Protection Business, Corteva Agriscience. The issuance of the Final BiOp supports the EPAs review and the removal of all county-wide restrictions, ultimately providing more farmers with certainty and access to effective, and more sustainable, weed control options.

Applicators should continue to abide by current product labels until supplemental labels are issued. Please consult with your local sales professional about how these upcoming changes may apply to individual operations. In addition to following current label guidelines, growers and applicators should refer to the Endangered Species Protection Bulletins, which will include targeted, sub-county restrictions in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas.

The Frozen Farmer Drives Diversity with NASCAR Sponsorship, Delivers Kroger Exclusive Flavor

Diverse-certified better-for-you frozen dessert brand announces Stenhouse Jr. sponsorship in 2022 NASCAR Cup Series and expands partnership with Kroger by launching exclusive flavor.

BRIDGEVILLE, Del.April 9, 2022PRLog — ABC’s “Shark Tank” backed farm creamery business, The Frozen Farmer, will accelerate its Kroger partnership joining the Kroger Racing family of brands in sponsoring JTG Daugherty Racing’s No. 47 Camaro ZL1, driven by Ricky Stenhouse Jr., in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series.

The brand also launches a new Kroger-exclusive flavor, Apple Pie Frobert™ – an innovative blend of ice cream and sorbet – using upcycled fruit, hitting the shelves nationwide this month. Frobert™ is a better-for-you frozen dairy dessert that lessens the fat and calorie content of traditional ice cream in a sustainable way without sacrificing flavor or creaminess.

“Ricky’s passion for fitness and making healthy choices seems like a natural fit for The Frozen Farmer,” said Katey Evans, co-founder of The Frozen Farmer, a woman-owned company, certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

Stenhouse shares Evans sentiment and looks forward to The Frozen Farmer being on his No. 47 Kroger Camaro for the DuraMAX Drydene 400 at Dover Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 1.

“Like Katey mentioned, I work out regularly to be in the best shape, and it’s important to make healthy choices when I can,” said Stenhouse Jr. “We’re excited to carry The Frozen Farmer on our JTG Daugherty Racing entry at Dover.”

One of the reasons The Frozen Farmer formed a partnership with JTG Daugherty Racing is because of the racing organizations NASCAR business model with The Kroger Co. family of brands and its diverse ownership lineup that includes five-time NBA All-Star Brad Daugherty, Gordon Smith, Tad Geschickter, and the only full-time NASCAR Cup Series female owner Jodi Geschickter.

NASCAR amped up its commitment to diversifying audiences and supporting women drivers and woman-owned business by first launching the 2004 kickoff of Drive for Diversity, and most recently with Busch Light’s $10 mill. Accelerate Her program offering funding, track time, media exposure, and more to women NASCAR drivers.

The Frozen Farmer being woman-owned and in partnership with Kroger, a company named top corporation for women-owned businesses for over six consecutive years, just further fuels NASCAR’s commitment to women.
