TIMES NEWS NETWORKMangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has issued a warning after finding that several residential and commercial buildings had availed underground drainage (UGD) connections without submitting the prescribed applications.Owners of residential and commercial buildings in wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 of the Surathkal area within the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) limits, excluding properties connected to the Idya Wet Well drainage network, who have unauthorised underground drainage (UGD) connections must mandatorily obtain official connections from the city corporation, MCC commissioner Ravichandra Naik said.He instructed that building owners with unauthorised drainage connections must visit the Surathkal zone office with the required documents, submit the prescribed application, pay the necessary fees and penalties, and legally regularise their connections within 30 days of this notification.“Suitable legal action under the KMC Act 1976 will be taken against those who do not regularise unauthorised connections within the specified period,” the commissioner warned. He said that the public should make use of this opportunity to regularise their unauthorised drainage connections and cooperate in maintaining cleanliness and public health in the city. A separate notification will be issued regarding the area connected to the Idya Wet Well, he added.
