The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru, which has actually anticipated relatively prevalent rains over Karnataka for the next couple of days owing to Cyclone Montha, has actually provided a yellow alert for 11 districts till October 28.
C.S. Patil, a researcher at IMD Bengaluru, stated that Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Raichur, Koppal, and Gadag districts are most likely to get heavy rains till October 28.

IMD synoptic meteorological functions mentioned that Cyclone Montha is most likely to move north-northwest wards and heighten into an extreme cyclonic storm by early morning of October 28.
“Continuing to move even more north-northwestwards, it is likely to cross Andhra Pradesh coast in between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada throughout evening/night of October 28 as a serious cyclonic storm with an optimum sustained wind speed of 90- 100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph,” it mentioned.
Coastal districts to be affected
Mr. Patil stated that due to this, the seaside districts are most likely to get substantial rains till October 29. He included that rains in these districts is anticipated to continue till November 2.
“Districts in south and north interior Karnataka are most likely to get substantial rains till October 28 and the strength is most likely to minimize after October 29,” Mr. Patil stated.
He included that on Monday, the seaside districts got comprehensive rains and lots of locations in south interior and north interior Karnataka got rains.
“Gadag got 5 cm, HAL Airport in Bengaluru got 3 cm and Mandya got 3 cm rains,” he included.
