Last month, we learned that Samsung was preparing to ditch Microsoft’s OneDrive as the cloud backup solution in the Samsung Gallery app in favor of its own service called Samsung Cloud. However, it was unclear when this change would be implemented. Well, thanks to an X user, we now know it will happen next year.
A screenshot of the Samsung Gallery app from a One UI 8.5 build reveals Samsung will stop using OneDrive for cloud storage starting April 11, 2026.
Samsung Cloud, like Google Drive, offers up to 15GB of free storage for each Samsung account, and it allows you to sync Memo, S Note, Samsung Notes, Scrapbook, photos, and videos.

Samsung Cloud also lets users back up/restore voice recordings, music, and documents. It’s worth noting, though, that Samsung provides “unlimited storage for basic native applications such as Contacts and Calendar.”
