No FASTag? Pay more in money, less by means of UPI

Automobiles without practical FASTags will be charged just 1.25 times of the relevant user charge if they pay by Unified Payment Interface (UPI) versus two times the charge if money is utilized in the deal.

The choice incentivises digital payments and is focused on reducing money deals at the user cost plazas on the nationwide highways.

Based on the modified National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008, lorries getting in a cost plaza without a legitimate, practical FASTag will be charged just 1.25 times the appropriate user cost for that classification of the car if they choose to pay through the UPI, the ministry of roadway transportation and highways stated on Saturday.

This will work from November 15.

“This amendment aims to strengthen the fee collection process, enhance transparency in toll collection and promote ease of commuting for the national highway users,” it stated.
