President Zelenskyy is expected in India on the invitation of PM Modi, Ukrainian envoy said, sharing insight into the plans.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to be in India, and a “precise date” for his visit is under discussion, Ukraine’s Ambassador Oleksandr Polishchuk said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited Zelenskyy to India during his visit to Kyiv last year in August.

The Ambassador said that both sides are working on the dates for the historic visit.
“In relation to the declaration about the future strategic partnership between India and Ukraine, believe me, we have potential for that. The Indian Prime Minister invited Zelenskyy to come to India. Both sides are working on this. We expect President Zelenskyy to be in India, definitely. It will be a great achievement in our bilateral relationship… We are trying to agree on a precise date,” he said on Saturday.
PM Modi had embarked on a historic Ukraine visit on August 23, 2024, when he met President Zelenskyy and invited him to India.
The two leaders have met on several other occasions on the sidelines of international summits.
The leaders met for the first time since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war during the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, on May 20, 2023. During this meeting, PM Modi emphasised that the war was “an issue of humanity,” and reaffirmed India’s commitment to peace and humanitarian support.
On June 14, 2024, they met along the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Italy’s Apulia, where PM Modi emphasised dialogue and diplomacy as the path to peace in the conflict.
On September 23, 2024, the duo met on the sidelines of the United Nations ‘Summit of the Future’ in New York and discussed India’s continued support for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
