Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed all departments to remain on high alert in view of heavy rains across Telangana. According to the Meteorological Department, 15 districts except Jagtial have received heavy rainfall, while the remaining districts have seen normal rainfall.
Speaking to senior officials on Saturday morning, the CM said moderate to heavy rains are likely in Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Vikarabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts. SDRF and NDRF teams have already been deployed to coordinate relief operations with district collectors.
The CM instructed authorities to stay alert over the risk of overflowing streams and canals, and to shift people from low-lying areas to relief camps. He ordered a complete ban on traffic over low-level bridges and causeways where water has accumulated, with police and revenue officials directed to set up barricades.
Revanth Reddy also asked sanitation staff in cities, towns and villages to maintain continuous sanitation drives to prevent mosquito breeding and waterborne diseases. The Health Department has been asked to stock adequate medicines and set up medical camps where needed.
Calling for measures to prevent loss of life, property and livestock, the CM stressed that all departments including Revenue, Electricity, Panchayat Raj, Roads & Buildings, Health, Municipal Administration, Police, Fire Services and SDRF must work in close coordination.
