War 2 marks Yash Raj Films’ first true pan-Indian outing, and Rajinikanth is supported by biggies Nagarjuna, Upendra and Aamir Khan in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie.
Trade pundits predict that while Coolie is likely to dominate the Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka markets, War 2 is set for a blitzkrieg in northern India and Telangana.
Pre-sales of both films in international markets last week saw Coolie making a good start in the US, with advance bookings crossing $2 million (Rs 17 crore). The film is also seeing strong momentum in the Gulf, Malaysia, Singapore and the UK. In the meanwhile, War 2 has clocked sales of Rs 5.5 crores in the international belt.
Back home, advance bookings for Coolie opened in Kerala on Friday evening and in Tamil Nadu on Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon, the film had already sold over one lakh tickets worth Rs 2 crore, according to Sacnilk.
