Bengaluru, 23 July 2019: The Akshaya Patra Foundation’s campaign to distribute 85,000 plates to MDM beneficiaries was kick-started with an event held at the Government Higher Primary School (GHPS) and Government High School (GHS) Krishnananda Nagar in Bengaluru on 23 July.

The event was held in the presence of Mr C. B. Jayaranga – Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), North Zone, and Shri Gunakara Rama Dasa – Senior General Manager Operations, Akshaya Patra. Also present on the occasion were Mr Gangadharaiah – HM GHS Krishnananda Nagar and Ms Yeshodamma P – HM GHPS Krishnananda Nagar. The dignitaries distributed 762 plates among the children of the two schools. They also served lunch to the children post the event.

On the occasion, Shri Gunakara Rama Dasa said “The idea for this campaign came when we observed that Government school children do not have plates to consume mid-day meal. Through this campaign, we seek to improve the efficacy of the MDM Programme and provide children a better meal experience.”

Acknowledging the Government’s continued support to the Foundation’s endeavour, he further added, “We are grateful to the State Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, for providing us the opportunity to serve the children.”
