More Than 125 Top Women Legal and Business Leaders Convene at Proskauer’s Annual Women’s Law Forum
More than 125 top women lawyers, in-house counsel and corporate leaders
from around the country convened to discuss numerous pressing legal and
business issues – including pandemic flu in the workplace, employee
blogging and social networking, and restructurings and reorganizations
in a global economy – at Proskauer’s
annual Women’s Law Forum, held this week at Time Warner Center in New
York City.
Spearheaded by Proskauer partner Elise
Bloom, this year’s Women’s Law Forum offered substantive sessions
led by several Proskauer women lawyers representing multiple offices and
practice areas. In addition, the event included featured speakers Susan
Hackett, general counsel of the Association of Corporate Counsel,
who discussed the ACC
Value Challenge and pressures resulting from the current economic
environment, as well as Tina Brown, founder and editor-in-chief of The
Daily Beast, who shared her personal insights as former editor of Vanity
Fair, The New Yorker and Talk magazines about managing change
in an evolving environment.
Now in its fourth year, the Women’s Law Forum also raised $20,000 for City
Harvest, a New York City food rescue organization. Over the history
of the event, Proskauer has raised $60,000 in charitable contributions
in support of organizations including the Breast Cancer Research
Foundation and Bottomless Closet, which provides professional clothing
and job readiness to women.
“The Women’s Law Forum creates a venue where women lawyers and senior
executives can engage in informative discussions about key issues
impacting the workplace and legal landscape. It also provides a unique
opportunity to develop personal relationships with professional peers
with whom they can share experiences as they advance their careers and
balance life and work,” said Ms.
Bloom, who this spring became the first female co-chair of Proskauer’s
Labor and Employment Law Department. “At a time when everyone has
been forced to navigate a rapidly changing environment, the feedback
from this year’s participants overwhelmingly indicated that the forum
was time very well spent.
“Another goal of the event is to increase awareness of and involvement
in charitable causes,” she added. “It has been inspirational to see how
Proskauer’s Women’s Law Forum has become an important catalyst to not
only raise funds, but also to increase engagement in organizations that
are working to support issues that are important to women.”
More than 20 other Proskauer lawyers from the firm’s offices in Boca
Raton, Boston, London, Los Angeles, Newark, New York, Paris and
Washington, DC, representing several legal practice areas, also
participated in the event.
