EDMONTON, Alberta – Aug. 23, 2022 – PRLog — Renowned cosmetic dermatologist, speaker, trainer and author Dr. Allen Steven Lycka is spending much of his summer touring college campuses in the United States and Canada, warning young students of the dangers of alcohol abuse – and explaining the consequences he has witnessed firsthand.
“Prior to leaving home for college, students are undoubtedly cautioned about the risks of using alcohol. Sadly, many times these warnings are ignored and the results can be devastating to a young person and their families,” Dr. Lycka said. “According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), it’s estimated that more than 1,500 college students between the ages of 18 and 24 die each year from alcohol-related injuries.”
His presentation, The Most Dangerous Time of the Year, is part of his bLU (Business, Life and Universe) seminar series. In it, he recounts in vivid detail being part of a team that was unsuccessful in its attempt to resuscitate an 18-year-old male college student, who drank an excessive amount of alcohol at a fraternity party. “Instead of saying no to his buddies, he listened to their encouragement to continue drinking,” Dr. Lycka said. “Then, when he passed out, instead of taking him to the emergency room or calling an ambulance, his friends left him in the hands of the girlfriend, who did not take him to the hospital until several hours later – when it was too late. Telling his parents that their only son had just died of alcohol poisoning was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do. They sobbed … and I sobbed along with them. It was an absolute tragedy that a young life ended in such a senseless fashion.”
Dr. Lycka receives an enormous amount of positive feedback at every school in which he speaks. “It has a big impact at a time when they need to hear this message the most, the beginning of the school year,” he explained. “There are many reasons college students drink. There’s the newfound feeling of freedom, peer pressure, the desire to do what their friends are doing, hazing, and other reasons, too. But whatever the case may be, they need to understand physiologically what happens when they drink alcohol to excess, and the negative – and sometimes catastrophic – effect it can have.”

This is the first published novel by Steven Alan Woods.
Steven Woods completed writing Bos Ace, his first book, in 2004 after one and one-half years of labor but delayed publication for 15 years until he was forced into retirement from his career as a credit manager. Woods took the money from his retirement package to finally self-publish Bos Ace in 2019 through the self-publishing house FolioAvenue.
The reason why I havent published it until just recently is because God proved to me that I wasnt ready to publish the book when I completed it so many years ago, said Woods.
Bos Ace tells the story of Bo Bozell, a high school sophomore and wrestling champion who is hearing impaired, and Ace, a bullmastiff dog who can transport itself from place to place on the planet. Ace is obviously sent by God and helps Bo and other characters in the book.

In a video, Woods also said, The main premise of the book is to demonstrate how profoundly a persons life changes and how they totally become a totally different person if they believe beyond doubt that God exists.

The Spirit of Wales Distillery in South Wales is thrilled to announce that new hire, Steven Young, will be their Brand Ambassador in August 2021 after leaving Boom Battle Bars.
Steven Young’s career in hospitality has only been on the up and up since 2006 when he joined a 2-star coach hotel as a server. His love for people and hospitality really came to the fore and soon he became a Duty Manager at the Atlantic Hotel.
After Steven moved to Barry, he started working at the Twenty Ten Golf Clubhouse venue at the 5-star Celtic Manor in Wales in 2013. At Twenty Ten his love for people and food and beverage really stood out, and he soon became a Chef de Rang, serving Royals, Presidents, and VIPs. Not long after, they made him the Food and Beverage Supervisor at Celtic Manor.
Steven next took on the role of Supervisor at Thistle in Cardiff, before becoming the Bar Supervisor at the High-end Cardiff wine bar and steakhouse, Pier64, in 2005. It was at Pier64 that he became a UK finalist in a cocktail competition hosted by Patron Tequila.
For the next four years, Steven would be a finalist in cocktail competitions, including those held by Nikka Perfectionist and Licor 43. Steven also moved from Pier64 to Academy Espresso Bar in 2017, where he would oversee the opening of 3 new Academy Espresso Bars in Barry and Cardiff over the next 3 years.
Boom Battle Bars, which opened their first adventure bar in the UK and quickly grew to become a national franchise, approaching Steven in 2020 and he became their National Training and Development Manager. One of his responsibilities was to form and develop their national cocktail menu.
In 2021, Steven left Boom Battle Bars to become a new hire as The Spirit of Wales Distillery’s Brand Ambassador, and we at Spirit of Wales Distillery couldn’t be more thrilled to have him on the team.
The Spirit of Wales Distillery looks forward to having Steven join the team.
