How can you differentiate your company and your offer from other websites and marketplaces?
Amazon.com is the giant in the room. New brands are asking themselves, what must they do to create a customer experience that you cannot have on Amazon?
If you plan to sell from your own website, and not on Amazon, you have to ask yourself what unique value will you bring to the marketplace for your customers?
NaXum’s CEO, Ben Dixon interviewed Jacquie Reser, founder of J Elizabeth Boutique to share how she’s used NaXum technology to create custom experiences for her customers:
What can we learn from the interview?
1. Get the customer involved.
How is the customer able to personalize their experience to their own needs? In the case of the platform NaXum built for J Elizabeth, customers are customizing t-shirts and sweaters with their own images and slogans to fit their own needs and design styles.
Allowing the customer to be creative and enjoy a product that literally does not exist anywhere else is empowering and is the value they cannot find on an Amazon marketplace.
2. The UX matters.
How easy is it for the customer to get involved with your product? Is the experience something they can do from the phone? Or are the steps so daunting that customers are discouraged and quit before finishing the process?
A key part of delivering a unique customer experience is thinking through the user’s experience(UX) on the technology. Invite randomized sets of customers to experience your platform before sharing your new tools with the public, gather feedback, and optimize your experience to be so good, it’s worth sharing.
3. Give them an incentive to share.
You’ve done the work of creating a unique experience, now it’s time to invite your customer to share that experience with others.
What rewards can you put in place that will incentivize your retail customers to share their experience with others? If someone is a total raving fan of your service do you have a place in your ecosystem for them to collaborate with you on a higher level? Have you created an ambassador program or a full-blown referral marketing opportunity for your most raving fans?
Think about the experience you deliver as a progression of creating fans.
As your customers become a bigger and bigger fan of your company, they can collaborate and participate in a deeper and deeper way:

XanPool, a payments infrastructure builder that operates in over 13 countries in the Asia Pacific, has raised US$27 Million in a Series A financing round led by Valar Ventures, alongside investors such as CMT Digital, and notable angel investor Taavet Hinrikus (Founder and Chairman of Wise, formerly Transferwise).
Commenting on XanPool’s ambitions in the APAC region, James Fitzgerald from Valar Ventures states: “It’s impressive seeing how XanPool has capitalized on the adoption of cryptocurrency to build a decentralized payment network powered by this new asset class. This space is evolving quickly; the incumbents aren’t going to know what hit them.”
XanPool is a Payments and Liquidity Network. Similar to Mastercard or Visa, but instead of having a closed network of banks as partners, XanPool’s open C2C network is made out of individuals and businesses, whose idle capital is used to settle cross-currency, and cryptocurrency transactions. By doing this, XanPool reduces the counterparty risk and costs associated with these forms of transfers, while also allowing the individual and business liquidity providers to earn fees of up to 2% a month on their idle capital.
With over 500,000 users, and over 400 business partners, XanPool is looking to consolidate its presence in the Asia Pacific region and expand its product offerings.
Commenting on XanPool’s ongoing momentum, Jeffery Liu, Chief Executive Officer at XanPool, states, “XanPool started as a small software innovation in the Peer to Peer technology space, allowing users to settle their cryptocurrency to local-currencies within seconds without taking custody risk. Our C2C network has since grown into Asia’s largest decentralized liquidity pool with over US$200 million of liquidity. Today, the network is not only used by cryptocurrency users but also hundreds of underserved businesses that traditional payment processors cannot service due to risk or cost factors which the XanPool network does not have.”
Jeffery further comments, “In the coming years, XanPool’s network will look more similar to that of the SWIFT Network. Just like SWIFT, XanPool does not hold liquidity itself, instead, it relies on the liquidity of all the participants using the network. Just like SWIFT, XanPool earns fees based on the communication that its software facilitates. But unlike SWIFT, XanPool is compatible with modern payment solutions like Cryptocurrency, Fast-Payments, and E-wallets. You can expect more innovation from XanPool in this direction”
XanPool software allows anyone to seamlessly enable Crypto to Fiat on or offboarding. Instantly executing and settling transactions without taking custody of customer funds. Our unique C2C software solution and liquidity network make the onboarding and offboarding infrastructure in crypto much more user-friendly, and resilient against existing infrastructure dependency (such as bank partners). We allow institutions and retail to be on and off-board regardless of their infrastructural limitations.
XanPool analogizes its collective technology to a “SWIFT-like Network”, but instead of taking days or weeks to settle, XanPool, using only more modern payment solutions with less overhead and risk, can settle similar transactions with a fraction of the cost, and speeds which are magnitudes faster, within seconds.

The 8th China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum was concluded in Lanzhou, capital of Northwest China’s Gansu Province on October 17, and a joint initiative was released, aiming at more profound and practical openness and cooperation among participators. With “Strengthen Solidarity and Cooperation for Building a Community of Security and Development” as its theme, the forum was co-hosted by the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Committee of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the People’s Government of Gansu Province.
The Forum included four sub-forums covering topics including “China-Central Asia cooperation on China’s BDS” and “green development.” A themed exhibit on China’s BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), which can provide customized services according to the needs of different countries and industries, was also held during the event.
Representatives from China and Central Asian countries including Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as international organizations, attended the forum online and in person.
Secretary-General of the SCO Vladimir Norov said the China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum is an authoritative platform for extensive exchanges between China and Central Asian countries. It helps strengthen political interaction, and deepens the relationship between all parties in ensuring regional security, and in responding to current challenges and threats. It also promotes a mutually beneficial cooperation, especially with regards to economy and trade.
“Under these conditions, cooperation in the health sector remains a priority. We propose to put environmental protection at the top of the agenda. We have actively participated in the development of the global agenda for sustainable development until 2030, and intend to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060,” said Alikhan Smailov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
Tajikistan’s ambassador to China Saidzoda Zohir pointed out that despite the various challenges of the new era, China’s economy continues to grow, and this will have a positive impact on the joint construction of a healthy, green and digital Silk Road. The volume of Chinese investment and bilateral trade with Central Asian countries has been growing steadily for two decades in a row.
The volume of accumulated direct Chinese investments in five countries of the region amounted to about $15 billion in 2020. “A new stage in the advancement of the Belt and Road may be the alignment “point” of China’s development programs with the national strategies of the Central Asian countries,” Saidzoda Zohir added.
As the 3D printed construction market grows, startups and nonprofits alike are beginning to leverage advances in concrete 3D printing technology to address the affordable housing crisis. Recently, Habitat for Humanity International through its Shelter Venture Fund invested $411,000 in Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions Ltd. to increase production of affordable 3D printed homes in India. Hestia Partners and Capnetic Investments joined Habitat in investing in the construction technology startup.
Habitat’s investment in Tvasta builds on a multi-year collaboration, beginning when the company was one of seven startups to participate in Habitat’s ShelterTech India accelerator program in 2018. ShelterTech accelerators bridge the gap between housing innovation and real-world impact.
3D printed construction technology offers the potential for faster, more cost-efficient and resilient housing in high-income countries as well as emerging markets. Construction of Tvasta’s first 3D printed home, completed in late-2020, generated less waste and was completed faster than traditional methods.
“The pandemic has only exacerbated the affordable housing crisis, with rising demand as well as material costs. Through the Shelter Venture Fund, Habitat is helping ensure that the most promising, disruptive technologies achieve scale, expanding affordable housing markets to reach more low-income families in need of reliable housing,” said Patrick Kelley, vice president of Habitat’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter.
According to UN-Habitat, an estimated 1.6 billion people lack adequate housing today, with global demand for affordable housing growing by 4000 units every hour. In order to reach more low-income households, Tvasta is working with the Government of India through its “Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana” (Housing for All) initiative, which aims to build 20 million urban and rural homes for low-income families by 2022.
Habitat’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter launched the Shelter Venture Fund in 2017 to invest in shelter entrepreneurs operating in the pioneer gap – where early-stage companies are often considered too new or too risky for conventional venture capital firms. The intent is to accelerate those entrepreneurs’ pathways to reaching low-income families with products and services that improve their housing conditions. To date, the Shelter Venture Fund has invested a total of $3 million in 11 startups with disruptive and innovative products and services.
