Anjali Phougat: It is shocking that actors reveal everything personal on reality shows

Anjali Phougat; Akansha Chamola

US-based Indian-origin stylist and actor Anjali Phougat has praised Akanksha Chamola’s fashion sense while sharing her thoughts on the actress opening up about her divorce from Gaurav Khanna on reality show Lock Upp 2. Speaking about Akanksha’s style, Phougat said, “I watched Akanksha on the show, and from a stylist’s perspective, I think she has a naturally elegant screen presence.

She carries understated fashion very well.

Rather than overpowering her personality with loud styling, I feel her beauty shines most in clean silhouettes, refined fabrics, and thoughtful details.”She added that jewel tones such as emerald green, deep wine, sapphire blue and rich teal suit Akanksha best, while elegant sarees, draped gowns, monochromatic co-ord sets and classic Indo-Western outfits complement her personality.Phougat also weighed in on Akanksha discussing her divorce on the show, saying that while it takes courage to speak about personal experiences, private matters often become public spectacle on reality television.

“Divorce is a personal choice and a personal matter. It is shocking that actors, just for a reality show, end up speaking about everything personal, and that becomes a social media tamasha. Who are we to judge? But surely audiences shouldn’t be fooled with fake information.

People often present a picture-perfect, lovey-dovey, happy life, and then suddenly one fine day announce that the relationship is over. That naturally leaves everyone confused,” she said.Calling for empathy rather than judgment, she added, “While public figures naturally receive attention and opinions, I believe none of us truly knows the complete story behind a relationship except the people living it. Every difficult chapter has the potential to become a journey of self-discovery and growth.

Instead of judging, I prefer to appreciate authenticity and wish people healing, peace, and the freedom to rebuild their lives with dignity.

Summing up her philosophy, Phougat said, “Fashion can transform how someone looks, but character is what leaves a lasting impression. Confidence, resilience, kindness, and authenticity are always the most beautiful things a person can wear.”
