Kim Seon-ho has added a new project to his busy slate alongside upcoming titles, Unfriend and Delusion. The new one, called May the Congressman Protect You, is a fantasy political drama expected to release in early 2027.

A live-action adaptation of Kim Hyun-bin’s popular web novel of the same name, the story unfolds as a chaotically thrilling mission to take over the National Assembly. Directed by Park Shin-woo — best known for the highly decorated and acclaimed show It’s Okay to Not Be Okay (2020) and fresh off his Baeksang Arts Award win for Our Unwritten Seoul (2025) — May the Congressman Protect You also serves as a satirical and cathartic K-drama.

The plot revolves around National Assemblyman Go Young-jin, a heavyweight played by veteran actor Kim Yoon-seok, who dies by suicide after getting caught up in a major corruption scandal. But, as luck would have it, he inexplicably wakes up back in the year 1998 as a ghost and teams up with an ordinary man to survive the dangerous political climate of the time and take revenge.

Kim Seon-ho plays Cha Jae-rim, a low-profile civil servant whose peaceful life is disrupted by a unique trait — he can see ghosts. After crossing paths with Young-jin’s spirit, he gets reluctantly entangled in politics. Bound by a shared mission, the duo joins forces to confront and expose the deep-rooted corruption inside the National Assembly halls.

The drama’s supporting cast includes Ryu Kyung-soo, with Ahn Eun-jin making a special appearance as Gu Seung-hee, the daughter of Young-jin and apparently the love interest for Kim’s character.

As mentioned in a post by Soompi, Kim expressed his gratitude for the role, calling it a privilege to collaborate with a cast he greatly admires. As a fan of the original web novel, he shared that “the drama script is just as fun, and the atmosphere on set is so enjoyable that I am already looking forward to how the project will turn out.”

This project follows Kim Seon-ho’s success in the recent hit Can This Love Be Translated? (Jan. 2026), as well as a stacked lineup of other upcoming projects. It also expands his repertoire into darker narratives, such as the crime thriller series Unfriend, where he’ll star alongside actress Park Gyu-young, playing a grieving woman who hires a brilliant but mysterious hacker (Kim) to hunt down the online bullies responsible for her younger sister’s tragic death.

There’s an even bigger buzz around his role in Delusion (also known as Portraits of Delusion), a dark fantasy mystery thriller slated for release later this year. In it, Kim plays Yun Il-ho, an artist in 1935 Gyeongseong who is commissioned to paint a portrait. Things take a dark turn when he falls under the dangerous, bewitching spell of a mysterious woman who is actually a vampire. This series also marks an on-screen reunion with his Start-Up co-star Bae Suzy.
