We are deeply saddened to reveal the death of distinguished filmmaker Velu Prabhakaran, who left us after an extended disease 18th July 2025. A radical of Tamil movie theater, Velu Prabhakaran was understood for his courageous storytelling and socially intriguing movies that redefined borders in Indian filmmaking.
With renowned works such as Nalaya Manithan, Kadavul, Puratchikkaaran, and Kadhal Kadhai, he boldly checked out styles such as atheism, caste, and sexuality– making both honor and debate throughout his profession. He stayed an imaginative force from the 1980s through to his last years, motivating generations of filmmakers and cinephiles.
Public Viewing & & Last Rites
His mortal remains will be kept for public tribute at “White House”, 21st Street, Sri Krishna Nagar, Valasaravakkam, from Saturday night (July 19) to Sunday afternoon (July 20). Buddies, fans, and members of the movie fraternity are welcome to pay their last aspects.
The cremation will happen at Porur crematorium on Sunday night, in the existence of close friends and family.
