Kincaid takes readers back to the Golden Age of mystery books.

San Diego, California – WEBWIRE

The mystery of life is not a problem to be solved, but rather a reality to be lived.

Mary Kincaid, author of the children’s book “Hawk McCoy: The Penthiads” (Red Hawk Press, 2017), will be holding a book signing session at the Tucson Festival of Books on March 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This book tells the story of a young boy looking for mystery in his hometown of Izlet Bay, Georgia. The story begins with Hawk McCoy, who spent his summer doing odd jobs and looking for hometown mysteries with his friends Sandy and Tom.

The kids form a group called the Indispensables and provide services including dog walking, cleaning, and serving meals to locals for a bit of pocket change. The protagonist, Hawk, is a real go-getter in the children’s business world, and he’s looking to expand somewhere where he might get a chance to solve a mystery.

Hawk has always been interested in solving mysteries, aspiring to be a great detective one day, and an upcoming summer project gives him the opportunity to solve a mystery of his own. He begins by looking at fingerprints because they are crucial evidence in investigations, then he thought, why not make this his summer project. He then began collecting fingerprints and created a catalog of 200 different kinds of footprints, categorized by shoe type, using his FIngerprint Guide For All Occasions and Super Sleuth 100 to work with.

Will he find a mystery in Izlet Bay? Stick around to find out more as Hawk analyzes fingerprints to discover the mysteries of strange-looking prints he’s found. He’s as ready as he can be to solve a real case, if only one would present itself.

“Hawk McCoy: The Penthiads” is a page-turning mystery that has received “5-Star Reviews’’ from Amazon customers for its unexpected twists and turns that keep readers on the edge of their seats. According to Paula Shablo, an Amazon reviewer, “…this brings me back to the bygone mystery-solvers, such as Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys.”
