CollectiveCrunch launches Linda Forest, an AI-powered SAAS platform for forestry

HELSINKI, Finland (September 19, 2019) – Tech company CollectiveCrunch has launched its ground-breaking forestry AI platform Linda Forest for commercial use.

The launch took place at the Digital Excellence Forum, an EU event on digitalization, held in Helsinki on September 19, 2019.

“Digital Excellence Forum is about digitalization and its forerunners in every industry. It felt like a natural place for us to launch the leading AI product in forest inventories and the digitalization of the forestry industry,” CollectiveCrunch”s CEO and Co-founder Rolf Schmitz says, speaking at the event.

CollectiveCrunch is an AI leader in the forestry industry. The company collects climate, geo and process data and crunches this information into AI models for better prediction of forest inventories and forest management parameters. Linda Forest”s current users include forest management companies, forest funds and wood product companies. They use it to make better buying and selling decisions, use wood-based raw material more efficiently, and reduce their costs. “It could also be used to predict the risk of forest fires,” Rolf Schmitz adds, giving an interesting look into potential future uses of the product.

The largest AI initiative in forestry

Earlier this year, CollectiveCrunch successfully raised a total of EUR 600,000 and won a competitive bid at Metsähallitus, the company responsible for the Finnish state”s land assets and managing one third of Finland”s surface area. The two companies aim to improve harvesting and forest development planning through deep learning and big data analysis.

“We believe this to be the largest AI initiative in the forestry sector globally. Results from this close partnership will have a huge impact to the industry as a whole and benefit many across the value chain by utilizing Linda Forest,” says CollectiveCrunch”s Chief Product Officer Jarkko Lipponen. Currently, CollectiveCrunch is focused on the Nordic and Baltic markets, although long-term plans involve adopting the solution to Northern America, Russia and other forestry markets.

One of their clients is Setra, a large Swedish wood product company. According to Setra”s CDO, Axel Simonsson, they have been very happy with the progress of the on-going pilot project. “CollectiveCrunch has acted as a change agent between us and our supplier, making us think outside the box,” he describes.

SmartTOP additional cabriolet top control for the new BMW Z4 available soon

Las Vegas, Nevada – September 19, 2019

The manufacturer Mods4cars has announced the SmartTOP additional cabriolet top control for the new BMW Z4 (G29). The clever convertible module will be available before the end of this year. The SmartTOP module enables the convertibles top to be opened and closed while driving with One-Touch. The tedious continuous pressing on the tops button is thereby eliminated.

In addition to simpler convertible top operation from inside the vehicle, the top can also be opened and closed from a distance using the existing vehicles remote control with One-Touch. For this, a press on the button on the vehicles key is all that is needed. No changes to the vehicles remote control is required for this function.

The following additional functions will also be included: Windows can be opened and closed via the vehicles key. It will be possible to reverse the operating direction of the convertibles top button. The Valet Mode will prevent the convertibles top from being operated via the interior button and the remote control. This allows the top to be completely locked when a third party is using the vehicle.

“We are pleased that we will soon be able to offer our SmartTOP convertible module for the BMW Z4 (G29), which was presented a few months ago. Our customers will be able to enjoy the advantages of our sophisticated comfort modules as of the coming convertible season,” explains PR spokesman Sven Tornow. “Also the installation of our latest product is child’s play. A precision fitting adapter set ensures a simple plug-in connection between the vehicle electronics and the SmartTOP module,” Sven Tornow continues.

SmartTOP convertible top controls are available for the following brands: Alfa, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, Infiniti, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Maserati, Mazda, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Volkswagen and Volvo. The following BMW models are also supported: BMW 1 Series, 3 Series, 4 Series and 6 Series Convertible as well as Z4 and Mini.

FABTECH: A precise engine manifold with two blade cutting

A t bend system developed by transfluid enables the processing of tubes of up to 60 mm with a bending radius of 1 x D. Most of the tubes produced in this case have two or three bends, with the cut made straight after the last bend or between two bends. No additional follow-up cuts are required. The bending machine for this solution features a centre-line booster and three bending planes, plus the plane where the cutting tool is used.
