New Delhi, July 22, 2019: 92.7 BIG FM, one of the largest networks in the country, has always been at the forefront when it comes to addressing prevalent social issues. This time around, the station has been creating much roar and frenzy with its recent campaign ‘DILLI KE DHAAKAD’, which intends to bring about real change to the situation of women safety in Delhi by stepping in and taking an active role and not just being ‘mute spectators’. Going further to analyze the situation on-ground at night for women, one of the much-loved RJs of the city, RJ Jassi took a step further and did a 12-hr live night show in Burari, Delhi.

The RJ performed a live show from the market place the entire night starting from 5 PM till 5 AM. Eminent personalities including Sanjeev Jha-MLA, Burari, Inspector Ashok Kumar, Burari, key influencers such as Isa Khan, Ruchika Das, Anupriya Kapur, Bikarni Gang, Azad Foundation ladies Cab drivers, among others visited her at the built-in studio to encourage and support the initiative. Furthermore, she engaged with locals to understand their perspective on the prevailing issue of women’s safety in Delhi NCR. She also discussed actions which can be taken and better arrangements, required from the government’s end, to ensure better safety for women on the streets of Delhi.

Speaking on the live night show and whole initiative, RJ Jassi expressed “It is disheartening to see the rising number of crime against women in my city. I wanted to see and experience the scenario on-ground when it comes to women walking freely on the streets at night. I had a wonderful experience interacting with women who bravely came forward and shared their concerns, regarding their safety, without getting afraid. This campaign that showcases the harsh reality of society not only supports women but aims to sensitize men as well who in reality need to understand the gravity of the situation.”

Commenting on this one-of-a-kind night show, conceptualized with an intent to spread awareness around Women’s safety, well-known radio host and anchor Richa Anirudh, who is the leading the campaign, said, “I really appreciate the way RJ Jassi and her entire team has come up with a concept of doing a live night show which helped us to know the situation on-ground on a real-time basis. The Delhi roads are not safe for women at night which is not the ideal situation. This issue of women’s safety doesn’t belong to one person or radio station, per se, but is of the entire capital issue. I am glad to see that people have come from far and wide and joined in this noble initiative of ours.”

Ashok Kumar, Chief Investigative Officer, Delhi Police (Burari) said, “I believe it is one of the most crucial issues in the capital which need to be addressed at the earliest. In cases like these, women should approach a nearby police station and file a complaint against the accused without any hesitation or feeling afraid. Women’s safety is our top-most priority and the entire team is there with every woman at each step.”

The 3-month campaign initiated with an informal conversation around women not feeling safe in the city. This was followed by a reality check done via an on-ground activity by a team of RJs, led by RJ Nitin, RJ Jassi, RJ Simran and RJ Yogi. The radio station also organized an engaging panel discussion recently at Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj to strike a much-needed conversation around the issue among the public.
