The Government has approved the land transfer for the establishment of Diplomatic Enclave 2 in Dwarka area of New Delhi today. This enclave will be for embassy and chancellor member. This decision was taken in the meeting of the Central Cabinet headed by Prime Minister. According to the official statement, the Cabinet has approved the transfer of 34.87 hectares of land and development office of the Delhi Development Authority to the second diplomatic enclave in Dwarka, New Delhi, and Sector-24.

Right now, a diplomatic enclave is located in Chanakyapuri, where the Land and Development Office has allotted land for various embassies. The Ministry of External Affairs had expressed the need for more land so that diplomatic missions and international institutions could be allotted land to make Embassy in Delhi and their offices. According to the statement, DDA L Zone Project has identified 34.87 hectares of land in Dwarka Sector 24 which will be transferred to the Land and Development Department. It will provide land for the second diplomatic enclave in the capital.

A senior official of the Delhi Development Authority said, this land was marked for diplomatic enclave and now it has been handed over to the Department of Land and Development under Land Pooling Policy.

The official said, “Any decision in this regard will be made by the Office of the Land and Development Ministry.” The Department of Land and Development works under the Ministry of Urban Development.

The DDA had marked this land in 2007 and it had about 40 plots, but the allocation was not yet. In January, the Cabinet had given permission to transfer 34.87 hectares of land from DDA to land and development office in Dwarka Sector 24.
